During the H1N1 pandemic, I worked in ER in a very large hospital. I had already gotten my flu shot, but we were told our choice was - get the flu shot or get another job. A lot of people started talking about how their rights were being violated, but they didn't have the right to work at that hospital. They chose to work there and the hospital chose to hire them with the stipulation that they could release them from work at any time. People were really shocked.

Texas is starting to set up emergency tents in Houston. Delta is rampaging thru Texas and hospitals are short staffed because so many nurses quit because of exhaustion and burnout.

I never stopped wearing a mask. And starting to see many more wearing one. At least in my little town.

I stay away from the controversy unless it becomes personal. I'm amazed at the people I know that are refusing the vaccine.

I am hearing those that received Moderna are being asked to get a booster. I'll be in that line. No problem. As soon as we get the info I'll sign up.

I try to tell as many people that ask me that yes I got the vaccine and had no side effects. But even if I had it would not be as serious as Covid.

It is sad and frightening to watch this play out and people being so divided. Doesn't do any good to be sad tho. Just try not to get caught up in the drama that is going to take lives.

I do have a question. Is it only the United States ( which is quickly becoming an oxymoron) that is fighting being vaccinated?

We are going to be having these conversations for a long time I fear.

Is it just Moderna, do you know? I got the Johnson & Johnson one. Just the one shot one. Haven't heard of a booster but also have not watched the news beyond a few weeks into this as it's just too much for me so not sure I would know if the others need a booster or not. Do they email you to let you know or?

@lostforgottensoul, I read something today that the FDA hasn't said anything about the J&J vaccine but that some people are going to go ahead and get it. So guess it's up to you. And I don't know how they are going to notify anyone. If I hear something I'll come here and share unless someone else does.

I do appreciate that! First I've heard of a booster. Will have to research that and see how to get it.

I got the Pfizer, and had thought I had side effects. It turned out to be diabetes out of control. I got a huge questionnaire about the side effects from Pfizer, so I'll let them know it wasn't the shot. No side effects the 2nd shot either. It's nice to know that they are following up though.

The Food and Drug Administration is set to amend clearances as soon as Thursday for vaccines from both Moderna and Pfizer, Inc. to allow extra doses for people with compromised immune systems, according a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity...An advisory committee to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is set to discuss booster shots for immune compromised people this Friday.

Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease specialist, told CNN’s State of the Union recently that a booster shot “might likely happen” for certain Americans who fail to mount a strong defense against the coronavirus after vaccination: “Namely, people who have suppressed immune systems, those who are transplant patients, cancer chemotherapy, autoimmune diseases, that are on immunosuppressant regimens,” he said.

Reading through from a number of sources, it seems that both Moderna and Pfizer are seeing the potential for the vaccine efficacy to drop after 6 months, and are working towards clearer data and solutions for booster-shot protocols/management. Not much info on J&J vaccine in this regard - but I could also just have my eye out for Moderna, since that's what I got.

Apparently, it's estimated by the CDC that at least 1 million people in the US have already gotten a third shot. That's only what, like 2.5% of the population (?) - but not really surprising that people would have figured out a work-around.

I am among the immunocompromised and the third or booster will probably be approved shortly for emergency use by the FDA. There is so much conflicting information out there, just check with your medical provider and follow credible guidance. This is a virus and it will mutate, so I would imagine we will see an annual Corona vaccine, just like we see annual flu vaccines.
