Worst Hospital Visit Ever

I voluntarily went into the hospital on my T's recommendation and it was horrible. The medical doctor triggered me and I ran to my room and sat in a corner with a blanket over my head doing my breathing exercises to try to come out of it, and a nurse came in and told me to get off the floor or she would call the doctor in. I got in bed and tried to use my breathing again, and they kept badgering me to talk.

The Pdoc came in and did a relaxation exercise with me and I was ok. I can't finish this. It just kept getting worse day after day and now I'm afraid to see my T. I am so tired of people telling me to just get over it and stop living in the past.

I don't know if I welcomed you before so I will now. Welcome to the forum! :)

I know what it feels, so I understand where you are coming from. I have been hospitalized twice in my life and the first time was horrible and did more damage then good. The 2nd time however it turned my life around. These were different hospitals.

I think you should see your T, and I am sure it will help you. Are there any precise reasons why you don't want too? I really don't think your T will tell you to get over it, and if he or she does then they are not a good T for you.

Take care.

I'm afraid to talk about what else happened at the hospital, and that he will read the report and not believe me. I feel totally abandoned by him since he said he would call the police if I didn't go to the hospital, and the hospital was horrible. I told the Pdoc that I wanted to die, and then I told him I had a job interview so he discharged me so I could go to it. Needless to say, I didn't go. I was so overmedicated that I really couldn't hold a decent conversation. I'm afraid T will try to hospitalize me again.

I think that is a good solution. Do they have a website, so you can know more about them and feel more comfortable about going?

I think playing Skyrim is a good idea. It helps, right? :) Commenting on the Skyrim thread is fun too!

Oh yes. It is the most horrible exprience to be forced into the hospital against your will. That's what happened to me...they also told me they would call the police on me. I was TERRIFIED!!!!!!!!!!

The hospital made my anxiety 100% worse. But, after I got out I was thinking well thing could be worse like still being in the hospital. It made me think...hey wake up...get your sh*t together. Because these doctor are not fooling around.

Even if it helps by creating a perspective of a worse scenario, I still think that's not the hospital's job. Hospitals should have someone who is competent at treating PTSD at LEAST on an advisory basis and in bigger cities there is no excuse to not have one on staff.

I can only imagine how bad that would be to not only be forced into a hospital against your will, but to also be mistreated like that....

I'm glad you have something to keep busy with (I'm one of 'those freaks', as my sister says, who has never played Skyrim  :p).

They had this guy who was at least 6 foot 8 inches tall doing rounds at night and I woke up and saw this giant man looking down on me and I totally lost it. I couldn't stop screaming. The first day I was there the nurse came in my room and startled me at least 12 times, and she giggled every time I screamed. I was crawling out of my skin by the end of the day. It turned out they were using float pool nurses, new grads for 2 of them.

GIGGLED?!?! How completely insensitive to another person's pain! I don't care if you're a new grad or someone who somehow wandered in off the street, if you walk into a psych ward and cause someone to scream in terror YOU DO NOT GIGGLE. I'd say there's something fundamentally wrong with a person who does.

I hope you never have to experience that again.

Giggled??? I'm sorry you had to go through that.... Some people who don't struggle with PTSD or are ignorant think certain reactions/symptoms are funny or "crazy". It's sad and pathetic, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy...

Sending you a (((hug)))
