You Know You Have PTSD When...

the latter is what is happening.

You could spin yourself out of control - good news, you can also spin yourself back in ;)
Go it step by step, even if it was in reaction to what other people did: what have you thought and what have you done at each step the anger was lesser, when you felt like coping with it more?
Can you do an opposite, ie. soothing & calming, actions instead?

((Edited to add: Not placing blame here, just talking about putting a lid on one's anger cup.))

@Heather Consider emergency medicine to get back into more control, and calm you down. One helped me to get panic attacks under control. Told to take when I felt one was setting in. It broke the cycle. I always keep one on me now. It's kinda a security blanket.

Personal opinion, and experience, nothing to take daily. Some of these medicines are very difficult to get off of. But ask Nurse about an antihistamine, or beta blockers, to calm things down. Benadryl might help.

@Cashew You mean not giving the finger every time I drive by the house where my daughter was molested.;)

Have to work on that. I give the other little girl who was abused, her father credit. He still lives across the street and he seems to be acting like an adult. Wish I could have some of him in me.

No, I mean giving the finger in a way that doesn't leave it broken // you feeling like all that effort is good for jack.

And hey, you're a badass in your own right. Even more so because you're a mom. Figure what in his outward attitude you admire and need for yourself, work on acknowledging it in you and multiplying it, maybe?

autonomic nervous system

When you are having an awful night. Praying it wasn't another seizure while sleeping. Then start reading autonomic nervous system post by @CrowFeather , Google it. Then kinda relieved it explains so much of past year(s). But still new to all this...(not to ptds, but how the body can physically react...)

when you decide to listen to a guided meditation bedtime story on you tube to inspire good dreams. sounds wonderful at first, but when the speaker says you find yourself on castle grounds and there is a party going on where nobody can see you except for one person and your first reaction is EEEK!!! PEOPLE!!! Even worse is that you are attending the party in what you are wearing to bed.
