You Know You Have PTSD When...

When it's the love story in the horror flick that makes you shut it off.:inpain::O_o::banghead:

Also the sneaking suspicion that no one else probably considers that piece of the film a love story >.>

It was. It really was. And they'd have been brilliant together. </3 :arghh; ...:cautious:FFS self. Pull yourself together. Chaseus. It's just a damn film.

They'd have been brilliant.

  1. You wonder why you can't find your purse, you've looked for it EVERYWHERE. Then you check the freezer
  2. You end up driving to the wrong side of the city because you can't turn left today
  3. A teeny tiny mouse farts in the field across the street. The fire department has to use the jaws of life to pry you from your death grip on the ceiling
  4. You tear apart so many pillowcases during nightmares, that the store clerk in the bedroom department knows you by name
  5. You park your car in front of a store. When done shopping and you leave the store, you comment on that nice car there & how much it looks like yours. Then you wander the parking lot, wondering where you parked your car
  6. You walk into a room and can't remember what you were looking for. You leave the room and eventually remember what you were looking for, so you go back into the room and... wait, what the f**k was I looking for?!?
  7. #6 happens so often you begin to think you're stuck in a temporal causality loop, á la Star Trek TNG
  8. Okay I'm gonna read this paragraph for the 15th time, and I'll remember what it says and move on to the next one.... okay 16th time... 17th... this book sucks
  9. It's Thursday already????? What happened to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday?
  10. Your family member with dementia comments on how your memory has been slipping a bit recently

@brokenEMT, with the exceptions of #s 3 & 4, your list sounds like, "You know you have ADHD when ..." As someone with both, I've stopped trying to figure out whether I'm dissociating or just spacing out, if I'm anxious, or just restless, if I'm jumping out of my skin with hypervigilence or merely hyperactive!

You know you have PTSD when ...

You embrace your insomnia, wait hours for your significant other to fall asleep first, so you can finally wander the house in peace.

When checking in with this thread is your mental map when you absolutely have no clue where does anything in your head belong.

Then you check with other places, too. Ok, trauma->training. Trained in trauma. PTSD. Something else. Circumstances. Get current.
