You Know You Have PTSD When...

6. ...you avoid seeing your friends because you think that they think you're paranoid
"You stop to think then forget to start again "
These !!
In addition to :

When you can't tell if you've processed and healed from a situation or if your just THAT detached.
When I am proud of myself for not having counter transference and I tell my therapist, 'work wasn't that bad. I was able to compartmentalize and not be affected by the clients disclosing their trauma histories.' And she reminds me that's disassociating and I may need a break from being a mental health professional.
When listening to the radio and a song comes on; i nonchalantly tell my boyfriend "I dated a guy, this was his ringtone ( pear jams better man). That should have been a red flag. But I was done when he tried to kill me"
I don't know how to edit my last post to include this comment. Thank you for this thread. Reading through it... it's been the first time I haven't felt completely alone and broken. And it's made me see I'm not crazy or stupid or flaky. It's made me laugh harder than anything else has in the last year. Thank you.

or even the special someone. .

& When your getting to know people includes as many reflexes & situational awareness & similar testing as you can think up without even thinking you're doing it. Having my back, or not being in the way? Apparently neither. I'll pass.

... & Having your back are people you /better/ don't get to know. A dating dilemma.
I think I'll go back to that one that's 'everybody dies in the end, even when not John.'

Walking across town is a super achievement and you feel really chuffed with yourself for doing it.
You'll only go outside to water the garden. under the cover of darkness.

The idea of your parents ringing or visiting puts you in a complete tailspin.

You frequently avoid people, even. nice people, who've never done anything to you

Facebook is completely off limits, coz your ex, who's since been banned anyway, sent you a message once.

The idea of anyone turning up at your house or knocking on the door, puts you in a complete tailspin

All your close friends are either domestic abuse victims, or people you've met in mental.Health support circles
