You Know You Have PTSD When...

(I put my purse in the fridge one time, and left the milk out on the counter where I would usually leave my purse).

When you stay in the house most of the time for fear of being hit by a car. Then you hear a screeching sound outside of wheels on pavement being braked and you are scared to go out and see the very mangled body on the street that you know must be there!

When you wrote in an e-mail to someone who said to you not to worry so much about them working like crazy and smoking:

"I don't want you to end up in hospital with a heartache at age 50..."

And don't see the mistake. Then, after rereading it like five times, finally the lights come on and you change "heartache" to "heart attack" :hilarious: :roflmao:

Thank goodness I didn't send it yet!

When you take your foot off the brake because the light has turned green and nearly jump out of your seat because your car has started moving.

When your late for your appointment because you spent twenty minutes look for your keys and they were in your hand the whole time.

When you have to ask what date it is and when you are told the month and day you ask sheepishly "yes but what year?" and it's December.

When you get a bad startle response from hearing the phone in your hand ringing, and suddenly is very confused about how to answer the phone call, and very frightened because there is a secret number on the display(by now your pulse is racing and your almost in total panic!)- only to realize that the call is made from the old cellphone you are holding in your other hand. :banghead:

You just made the phone call your self, because your phone was acting out before and you needed to know if it was working now.. Somehow your brain forgot that(in one second or so..) :bag:

Welcome to my doctor's appointment today.

You know you've got PTSD when you've asked for an anti-depressant from your GP over the phone, and you say it's because you have PTSD, and he agrees to phone the prescription in to the pharmacy but wants you to come into the office to discuss . . .

A month later you go the office, your doctor asks whether the anti-depressant has been helpful. You answer, "Yes, somewhat."

He asks "How long have you had PTSD?" and you tell him. Then he asks "How does it affect you?"

Minutes later you "wake up" - tears are rolling down your face, you've been staring at the back of the door, you have no idea what you just said, you look at your GP and he says, "That's a lot to handle" and suggests that the dosage be increased. :roflmao:
