Your Experiences With Bodywork For Healing Trauma

@Chava. Thanks for explaining the difference between bodywork and body psychotherapy for trauma. I was not aware of it. I have been posting in the wrong tread i think! I don't have any experience with bodywork ( massage) Does bodywork always involve touch?

I now have a therapist who does hypno-psychotherapy as well as bodywork. He is also a trauma specialist, and has been in practice for 30 years. I cannot begin to explain what a God-send this man has been! I've made more progress in my few months of working with him than I have in YEARS of CBT. Bodywork is definitely not for everyone, but its worked wonders for me.

@fellowsufferer ...I really don't know much about bodywork so am afraid I can't tell you much. There are forms that aren't so hands-on I believe, like energy healing stuff, but I just don't know anything about it.

Hey, @Eagle3, can you tell us what type of body work he does so we can look for a practitioner in our area who is trained in those methods? I understand there are different kinds of bodywork out there such as cranio-sacral, reiki, etc. Thanks :).

@Dana1010 I have no idea what exactly the style is. I just know his hands are warm and I can tell when I'm not receiving the energy. I can also tell where I keep specific trauma's, because different issues come up when he works on different places.

My problem has been I need to get a job to get body work for my traumas, but I need bodywork for my trau...

Did you try to get on disability? I'm so sorry you were violated. I must say I'm surprised that, that therapist did not get in some type of trouble. Please know, most Therapist are professional and would never do wrong. I'm a Massage Therapist, and that doesn't enter any part of my mind.
