But what if your "theology" explicitly calls for the murder of nonbelievers and other crimes? What if a bunch of rapists decided that God said, "Be fruitful and multiply," and their interpretation of this is to procreate by any means necessary? They've formed a new sect around this and are raping people in the streets everyday. Can we not expel the adherents to this religion even as they're doing massive damage, because religious freedom is in the constitution? Where do you draw the line?
The line is drawn at behavior. Not religious belief.
raping people in the streets everyday.
If someone, or even a group of people, is raping people in the streets everyday, I do not want the response to be to send them off to some other country. If a person or persons commits or attempts to the criminal act of rape on the streets of the US, I want them to face justice. I want them imprisoned where they can not continue to rape and murder. Where would we send the convicted serial street rapists anyhow? What country are we going to send them to? And those that we just suspect of rape and murder but don't convict them, why would we want to send them to places where we can not keep and eye on them and stop them?

It's not effective law enforcement or security enhancement to send off rapists to other countries. We have already tried this, and it's lead to increased radicalization and the formation of more terrorists.

Even more so, it's not effective to think a test would stop people from criminal acts. Thinking we can give terrorists a religious "test" of their beliefs as a means to stop terrorism is seriously underestimating the intent and willingness of ISIS and others to do harm. Terrorists seeking to rape and murder are also willing to lie and say they don't believe rape and murder is a good idea. They would find the way to pass this religious test. We would then end up with a worse problem, because then it would give a false sense of security that anyone who passed the test and gave the "right" answers is not a terrorist.

Newt Gingrich is calling for a return to McCarthyism. He specifically states he wants a return of the House Un-American Activities Committee. That committee was administrated by congress to judge how "American" various people were. (For more info, check out this article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-weigant/newt-has-a-monstrously-ba_b_10447956.html) That committee did nothing to stop Nazis or communists, but it did do a lot to destroy the lives of innocent Americans.

Holy shit, I did not know that Newt was calling for that. Thank God Trump did not pick him for his running mate. I never liked him. Anyone who could leave their spouse dying of cancer for another woman is not fit for public office. Or much of anything else, in MHO.

Yes, on Bastille Day, a kind of independence day for France, the day in oh, heck 17-something, late in the 18th century, where a bunch of people liberated other people imprisoned in the Bastille prison for political "crimes." Tragic. I'm glad your family members are okay.

Details are coming out now about the massacre (Paris)... and what actually occurred to the victims was horrific and it was filmed for Daesh (sp?)/Islamic State propaganda. The French government hid the details of the mutilation of victims... horrific mutilation of bodies. Filmed for propaganda... France and Europe have a big, big problem.

What's up with Westboro Baptist Church, Joey? Just curious. Homegrown terrorism?
well, they celebrate a great deal of death. The wiki entry is pretty thorough.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church
operative word here is "wishes." They're not actually doing it, at least not on the level of the Jihadists.
Dylann Roof comes to mind - (Charlestown church shooting), but also the activities of the KKK...lynching has killed a lot of people. Bombings of abortion clinics. I'm not saying that any of this negates other forms of terrorism, only that it seems wrong to leave out American actions against Americans. We have been good at killing ourselves over differing religious and political beliefs since the beginning of the civil war, and even before (Salem witch trials....this stuff wasn't all that long ago, in the scheme of the world).

Holy moly, Joey, I couldn't even bear to read the whole wiki entry. I have never heard of such a noxious baptist church. But then, I'm from Detroit and there are tons of great baptist churches there. Horrible!

So we know they believe in it and are acting on that belief, and they will face justice....after they do it and are caught. That's cold comfort to the victims, to say the least.
