Dog In Crate 12 Hours, Is This Cruel?

I so wish i had a yard and a doggie door @Neverthesame as it would solve so many issues lol.

@missy meier, i suppose i could but would be easier and faster if i tried to ride the bike (for the first time. Have chronic pain) and run him that way for like 30 mins or so.

ETA: I would (and use to) run him by throwing a ball but he is allergic to grass and would break out in red hot hives or something like that.

He needs to be able to run.

i run him

Glad your supervisor is working with you a bit.

I lied and said a Dr appmt is running later than first thought but either way she is letting me flex which is what i needed.

I had forgotten about flexing until i was in a panicked frenzy and then i remembered. PTSD! Blah! :wtf:

First: well done figuring out the flex with your supervisor.

Second: you are not weird feeling the way you do given your history. I have something similar in my history and it gives me anxiety to lock my dog up as well. BUT he does well with it. I keep the kennel up and rarely put him in it but he's in there right now chillin' like a villain with the door open. He views it as his space when he needs down time from the world.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I'm glad this is working out.

Sorry it took so long to respond.

No, no, dont be sorry. Im sorry I tagged you and @joeylittle about it; I was in 'freak out' mode and I remember we all talked about it a few months ago. Thank you so very much for replying!

And yes, it is SUPER hard for me to lock him anywhere but he also often opens the crate door with his nose and goes and chills in there too. Its also what he does when anyone is yelling. Its like his 'safe place' and he also punishes himself if im getting onto him. Like he goes to his bedroom himself...and sulks lol. Though he sleeps on my bed, you know what i mean.

I shouldnt of posted about it. I was just panicking.

I so need to meet my neighbors some how.

Sigh!

Also @desiderata310, I learned from the July disaster when we were talking in the other thread about crating him. My dad was taking him out at about 6pm. I stopped that so since they came back in July, I have been the only one taking him out. He goes out at 1pm before i go to work, 11:30pm when i get home from work and 3am, right before bed.

He has been doing great on that schedule. And when I left today he didnt bark or whine or make a peep. So working with him in July and changing his schedule paid off.
