My workplace is going through major issues right now of which I cannot give exact details. Investigations.
I developed PTSD a few years ago from an incident a work. I told my new boss and she told me that she'd have to find me a job elsewhere as she couldn't have two employees who couldn't get along (keep in mind, the other employee should be the one in trouble, not me-I felt how rape victims feel when they feel like they were to blame). The other day, an employee told me that the boss told her she thinks all the staff have PTSD and need counseling. I have to say that I believe no one else at work has PTSD (can't state for sure but everyone knows I have PTSD from work and no one but one who retired a year ago told me they also have it) We all talk so it wouldn't be uncommon for someone to tell me they also suffer from it.
I am a target of the boss (along with 10 others), she knows there is something going on. I feel like she is taking the PTSD lightly. I feel highly offended. I don't think those who do not suffer from PTSD get why it upsets me. Would it be ethical for her to state she believes all her employees are bipolar and need counseling? I don't understand why it's ok to say it about PTSD. Can someone give me some insight to why I am so highly offended as others do not understand why it upsets me. I feel she was making fun or light of a mental illness that is also under the ADA. But others don't see that.
