Supporter Concerned For My Wife

About a year and a half ago, my little girl was struck by a baseball causing a severe skull fracture. A home run was hit as people started yelling heads up my wife grabbed our little girl and as she turned to shield our little girl from the ball, it still managed to hit her. Our little girl was a champion and has had 100 percent recovery. I thought things were good but my wife relives the accident everytime she closes her eyes. She doesn't sleep much, our relationship has taken a definite hit. Any help or advice on PTSD would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Patience is the big one to start with and i know we can put you through hell but it can and most probably will be a bumpy road.

She may not realise it yet but she will appeciate what you are currently doing, if she is not in counciling i would definatly get her to a doctor and get that sorted asap as it is really the only way forward. As treatment goes on i have found the key is communication with my wife as she can tell when i am shutting down just by the communication dropping.

i know its not a lot but hope it can help a little

I have been trying to get her to go see someone, she has very high anxieties about leaving the house. Everyone I have talked too has told me I cannot force her to go she has to be willing to go. I work for a great company that is getting me as much info that they can.

Welcome to the community. Sorry you're here, but really glad you found us :)

There is an absolute wealth of good info here, on-site, including a really badass group of Supporters. I usually like to point people -both sufferers & supporters towards the Stress Cup article on the Homepage, as it's one of those super rare immediately useful things, that stays useful. For both those with PTSD & those who love them. The PTSD Cup - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Explained
