Hello,
I found out about this site through my counselor and he encouraged me to sign up. During my senior year of high school I was in an emotionally abusive relationship which caused me so much stress and heartache that I had a seizure two days before his birthday. Since the relationship ended I have been struggling with depression and recently PTSD. I'm 19 years old and I'm in college. I have a passion for music,reading,writing and spoken word. I'm here to give and receive support on my journey towards recovery.

Welcome, @brokenyetwhole2016. I'm sorry to hear about the abusive relationship. Can I ask, how did you come to receive a PTSD diagnosis? Was your school counselor hypothesizing, or did you have an appointment with a psychiatrist/psychologist?

I'm not questioning that you've been through something bad, and that it's still hard for you. But PTSD is not typically diagnosed for emotional abuse or break-ups. Many aspects of PTSD therapy may still be quite useful to you, regardless.

I'm assuming that your seizures were psychogenic in nature (PNES), as opposed to epileptic - but did you have that checked out?

I'm glad you are away from the bad situation.

Welcome, @brokenyetwhole2016. I'm sorry to hear about the abusive relationship....

I was recently diagnosed with PTSD from a psychiatrist/psychologist my counselor referred me to a psychiatrist/psychologist after expressing concern of flashbacks I had from the relationship I was in plus I was having problems sleeping, since then I have been in therapy which has been very helpful.

As for the seizures I visited a neurologist and had an EEG done and he did not find any indications of epilepsy and yes my seizure was PNES
