Im a 30 year old oif2 vet. Army infantry (11c) and i came here for some kind of help and or community because the help offered at the VA is next to worthless. Nice to see greet new members greeted with open arms. Go f*ck yourselves. ill go it alone or find some other forums.

There is huge bold red lettering in the new account creation process that says this site is only for vets i guess that isnt enough for most people to understand what this site is about?

Snack,
Good to have you...

A couple of things.

1) you entered a conversation without introducing yourself. Would you do that in person?

2) this site is for combat vets with PTSD only. Without an introduction to let us know who/what you are about, you could be just another person f*cking around in our sandbox.... Tends to get the folks here riled up... And if you suffer from The Beast, you know what that's like.

3) you probably came here because you can't or won't talk about this shit with people who haven't been there, or don't get it. Am I right? Well neither do we. We are a pretty blunt group here, and you can quickly weed out the posers by their reactions to things...

4) stick around. Go to the introductions page and let us know more about you.

Maybe there needs to be even bigger even brighter red writing that says, 'IT's Polite To Introduce Yourself'.

Anyway, it's common courtesy. Regardless of who you are or where you are, if a group of people are talking, you don't just waltz on up and have your say, you have no f#$king idea who they are, so you say, hello my name is ......, i am from back yonder and I was just thinking.

Maybe Anthony needs to give us thread ban people some ESP so we know who everyone is.

You're all right i should have introduced myself somehow. We all have our good and bad days, this was one of my bad. I apologize. I'll be lurking around a while longer.

I would honestly say that others are also at fault, as simply asking you if you're a vet would have sufficed, other than imply you're not because you live with your mother. I was thinking... lots of people live with their parents, especially when f*cked up from PTSD. It can be hard enough to cope day to day, let alone deal with all the other shit in life.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, an intro is a good place to start, though members should also ask questions first, not insinuate otherwise.

As @Fargo outlined, forum history has shown many trolls, spammers and want-to-be's who aren't vets, so members can be a little testy when there is no introduction outlining the basics. :coffee:

Yeah, shit does happen. Snack so if we got off on the wrong foot, don't take it personally. We get many that don't fulfill this sites requirements so we can be a bit surly. More like we protect our own. It's been a bump but you're here now so I like to welcome you to the forums. As you've found out we call um' like we see um'. Glad you made it back Brother and found us here.

It does make a point that perhaps an addendum to the creating a login should include a 'first thing after login is to go to the intro section and let us know who you are'. or something like that. Just a tweek that might be helpful for the future. Just my 3cents (inflation).
