Hmmm.... I see this headline in HUGE letters on CNN.com. It is a bit triggering for me. I feel like packing or checking my seabag to make sure I have everything ready to deploy again. Then my logical part of my mind kicks in and reminds me, I'm not in the service anymore. Then, my irrational side kicks in "O.K., I'm not in the service anymore, but I HAVE to be on alert for terrorists still". Then to make it more interesting, my illogical part of my mind starts to run scenarios through my mind of the places I'm likely to go to in the next few days. What to do if the train gets derailed and explodes as it goes through town. What to do if any of the local industries blow up, etc...
I've decided, to avoid any/all of the online news for the next few days as best I can. I've even changed my homepage from CNN to something not news related so when I open my browser, I don't see the triggers.
I'm having difficulty not flashing back to all the times in the past when the shit hit the fan, and the command I was in was jumping though it's ass to attack a new target (on cruise), be deployed (next in line to deploy) or heighten it's security to ward off a terrorist attack (shore duty, or between cruises).
Anybody else go through this when certain headlines appear?
