Hello everyone,

Diagnosed by VA 50% PTSD, 20% Back injury, 10% hearing loss, 70% total.

Served in OIF 2, JAN 2004-Feb 2005, Northern Iraq, mostly Mosul area. With 3rd Bde 2nd ID SBCT, Combat Engineer, grunt, truck driver,etc.etc..

I've found that if you have your proper paperwork and documnetation your claim can go smooth with some delays. Overall I've had a positive experience with the VA, except for the occasional paranoia, lost paperwork, etc.

Still deal with anger issues, nightmares, anxiety attacks, trust issues, always on guard. I can relate to alot of your posts and enjoy coming here. I strongly believe that only veterans that have walked the walk and talked the talk can better understand each others battles with the "Beast".

Look forward to interacting with my fellow veterans and "Beast" tamers. Combat Guppy "Goldfish" so eloquently put me in my place concerning an introduction, and I thank him for it.

Don't sweat it, Zen, we're just a little edgy after a couple of zeros. Glad to have you and thanks for the intro. The additional info helps us help you.

Yeah, we've got a great group here. I've been all over the net looking for a place like this and this is it. We have a great library that our benefactor, Anthony and one of our senior (in rank) members, Jimmy put together in the way of videos. Answers a lot of questions.

Pull up a chair and join in.

What no more eating Peanuts out of each others shit? just walking and talking!

Damn the miliatry has gone soft

I would say pull up a sand bag but its probably to lumpy.

Guess the old guys will have to make room for you to join in on the sofa.

Welcome

Welcome Zen,

I'm one of the old guys who'll take a sofa over a sand bag any day. Life is far too tough not to take it easy at every opportunity.

This is a great place to take time among lots of grunts, young and old, who deal with the Demons and Dragons each and every day. You'll find more first hand experience here than any other place I've found from those who have been dealing with every kind of problem that warriors face.

However, I can't personally help much with picking peanuts out of shit. Damn, to thing I used to bitch about twenty-five year old C-rations.

Combat Guppy Goldfish is a bit harsh mate, you don't even know the guy. He was just being direct as we have had so many 'Fakers' around here pretending to be veterans with PTSD. You say you served, well you would not join a new unit and come up to a bloke and call him a name like that, he would smack you in the mouth. His name is CG.

I would also go back and be re-assessed. 20% PTSD and you still suffer all those things. damn you were ripped off. They put me out to pasture on my first interview 100%.

Welcome Zen. Lots of good info on here. Searching past threads will turn up all manner of interesting nuggets. I'm happy to hear that your experience with US VA has been good. So many have other types of experiences. Sometimes this is a good, safe place to just rant.
