Ah... The Controversy - Lady Gaga

Personally, I think the lady is one very talented musician. Original, theatrical, can sing and isn't making all the mistakes others are / have, ie. Brittany Spears lip syncing. I love this one from the Australian media:

Lady GaGa's highly anticipated Australian tour has so far been swathed in controversy following outcry from parents at her 'too crude' show. At last night's concert in Sydney, GaGa apparently asked fans to "get your c**k out", much to the shock of parents with young children in the crowd! "You may have heard I have a massive d**k," the singer went on, alluding to those rumours a while back that she is a hermaphrodite.

Clearly the rumours affected GaGa more than we thought as she hasn't just let it go! GaGa's crude language mixed with the shocking content of some of her routine (ie -- GaGa being vomited on, eating a human heart etc) has prompted parents to bid for warning classifications on concerts. Mums say GaGa's tour should be rated MA15+ so that parents can decide if it's appropriate for their kids.
Watching this unravel this morning on Sunrise (morning current affairs show in Oz) the hosts agreed, that how exactly do these stupid parents some how believe that their choice of taking their 9 year old daughters to this show is somehow Gaga's fault, or the promoters fault? Lady Gaga has never been anything other than "out there", raunchy, sexy, swears, etc... everything she does has incorporated her personality. If these parents are literally that stupid to think that she is going to tone herself down because they are stupid enough to buy tickets and take their young children to her show... these parents need to slap themselves. That would be the same as taking a 9 year old to Robbie Williams, Madonna, heavy metal bands, etc...

How exactly do these parents think that an adult concert is appropriate for kids in the first place? They never have been, never will. This stuff isn't a Wiggles concert. Honestly, where the hell did responsibility go? Its like people have lost any inkling off it and can only blame others for their own stupidity.

If you want to watch her latest controversy, then here it is...

I love her voice and her music. I enjoy her fashion and have seen her interviewed. She was pretty laid back and down to earth when I saw her. She reminds me of how people first reacted to the craziness of Madonna when she first came out. They said she was outlandish, crude, indecent, bizarre, etc... If you go further back in time, there was Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Kiss, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, etc...

They all presented their own forms of musical art and entertainment at times when the older generation felt they were indecent and a scourge to society. I agree with GaGa when she states that it is really ridiculous to bring small children to an adult concert. (Although I'm pretty sure that the kids have seen/heard most bad things already) The judgments she gets are more from her gender than her material. IMHO. Most of society has accepted the crotch grabbing, leg humping, cussing, name calling rap thats so popular with teens these days. I'm by no means cutting rap...the talent to rhyme is incredible and I accept its forms to be art as well. I just think our society talks out of both sides of our mouths.

She is adult entertainment. You wouldn't take your 9 year old to the booby bar would ya? I really hate when society searches for someone to bash. Being different is not a reason to bash and I'm tired of seeing it happen myself. Wish I had tickets, I'de love to see her live. (as long as there is no vomiting on me)

Whoa, what? I'm not a big follower of Lady Gaga but so what? She's good musical theater and obviously not Barney the dam purple dinosaur. More shame on the press for even giving these parents any coverage for having a 9 year old at a concert clearly not intended for a child that age. Shame also to social services for not responding to behaviour this irresponsible.

Lady Gaga was just doing her job, while apparently everyone else happened to be sleeping. The fingers are pointing in the wrong direction.

As a classically trained musician, I say it's refreshing to see a pop star that doesn't lypsynch. Her latest video is girls taking control of the glam-violence that boys have saturated mainstream with. So what so what so what - bad girl! Only boys are allowed to subvert and glamorize violence? Kiss it.

Oh, bringing a little one to a concert when Gaga has always displayed herself 'inappropriately' on stage, when her roots are in New York burlesque??? Plze!

She's the Alice Cooper of this generation and hooray! The biggest prob with the whiney UNparents is that they are sheeple full of hot air (good thing they aren't world leaders, or we'd be in even worse trouble than we already are).

Glam on!

I feel like I am living in a time warp--Madonna (from the controversy) revisited. History really does repeat itself after all.

Having seen the inside of a womens prison, um from a official side of things, I wish the inmates were like them. Oh and I love her out-fits, make-up and her abs., what a body to be showing off. I think it is really sexy and outrageous....and funny. The music is her 'style' and the lyrics are hilarious. I wouldn't pay to see her and I wouldn't let my children go to a concert of her's....geese some people really do have some horses loose in their top paddock. If that is what she is willing to do for video of course her concerts have to be ramped up, that's what concert's are all about are they not....seeing the real people do their real stuff. It's all IMHO about make believe and escapism and I am sure it brings her in a decent income and she pays a lot of wages for all that stuff she wears or doesn't wear. It's music and it's art. I say live and let live. Great clip!

I am not into Gaga's music, however I do appreciate her genius from a cultural phenomenon sense. She has certainly brought something unique to the world. I am totally intrigued by her costumes - and often wonder what she is hiding from in those masks she wears.

As to the topic of this thread, I cannot believe that parents do not screen what their children are doing! I know that it's not easy to look out for every little thing that young people are looking at/listening to, but puhlease! These parents have been living under rocks if they haven't heard of Gaga's antics. Even I know who she is and what she's up to, and I rarely watch tv, and I don't listen to the radio. I wouldn't go to one of her concerts, as she can be rather graphic, so I can't imagine that 9 year old children should be going. When are these people going to take responsibility for the lives they bring into the world and stop blaming everyone else for their shortcomings as parents?
