Colorful and hopefully optimistic but maybe hateful occasionally

has anyone else noticed that the song Arabian Night in the intro to Aladdin is kind of racist? or at least somewhat ignorant. haha.

edit to add: sorry, I'm procrastinating something, don't pay any attention to me today :P

And my lisp from the Invisilign is gone now, it seems my body got used to it. Which is great because I still have to wear it for another year and a half at minimum and while I'm fine trading a temporary lisp for a straight and healthy smile at some point, I was having a hard time taking myself seriously when I talked because I wasn't hearing the words I was thinking lol

so that's cool

in my interview exam which apparently went really well, the professor was like "what's literary citizenship and what does it mean to you" and I was like "oh jeez don't make me say 'literary citizenship' right now"

literary thitithenthip lol
LoL :-() that's funny @littleoc

I would have to say I've noticed heaps of Disney movies are incredibly racist, sexist and stereotype-y.

Haha, very very true. It would be interesting to sit around analyzing everything.

Ever notice that most Disney princes don't get shown sleeping, like the ladies?

Every notice that the only movie to star a real Disney Prince makes it all about the sexual rebelliousness of Jasmine? yet fails to ever address the starving orphans literally everywhere nor the fact that a serious punishment for a crime Jasmine commits -- stealing an apple to feed an orphan -- results in her getting her hands cut off?

And at the end of the movie, the thing they want to change is the ability for the Disney prince and princess to marry -- NOT fix any of these startling laws and problems? I mean, do we even get to see Aladdin being a nice guy, ever? Yeah, he feeds an couple or orphans one time, but that's about it. He has a pet monkey for some reason, that I hypothesize he stole and then taught a life of crime, because DANG does he steal a lot. And when does Aladdin free the genie? When he already has everything else he wants or needs. :)

Seriously, this movie could have been written so much better

Also Jasmine must be pretty insane, because somehow she doesn't realize that getting your hands chopped off is a serious punishment. Also let's back up a second -- Jasmine doesn't realize that an apple on a cart has to be bought? A future ruler isn't being taught basic economics?

But in any case, assuming Jasmine doesn't understand how business works and then also doesn't realize the laws of her own land and nearly gets her hands chopped off -- I mean, that would be life altering information to literally anyone else. But not Jasmine. She want to be allowed to marry a street rat.

Which the Sultan kind of just lets happen like it was no big deal because "Am I the Sultan or am I not? :)" which undermines the entire plot, which should be about Aladdin, the only Disney prince at this point to get his own movie, going against those insane laws and regulations to adopt a million orphans and protect them forever.

Screw Jasmine

My mom called me on my cell phone and then asked if I could come here for a second.

"Where?"

"Living room. Just for a second."

So I did.

And she just wanted to know how to plug in a laptop perched up on some garbage, next to the one spot on the couch that's still available, so she can watch Netflix.

I showed her and told her it doesn't matter how you plug it in, as long as it's plugged in. I let her do it. But the little light never came on.

"But there's no power going to it."

"The power outage must have turned off the power" (she meant in the UPS).

Then she realized no one could get to it and that she or I would have to "climb" over garbage to go turn the stupid thing on.

And she said, angrily, "Well people keep moving everything, can't even use this room anymore."

Um???? When is the last time it was usable??

Do we seriously consider a couch being used for eating, watching Netflix, and doing homework because there is no dining room to be usable? You couldn't even use the DVD player because it was out of reach and who knows where the remote is buried. Why was it other people's fault? Where do you propose we move everything?

uuuugh

Sleeping beauty is one of my favorite animations ever - due to the drawings alone - but damn it's sexist. She isn't taught how to be a proper housewife, so the "fairy godmothers" teach her and she finds her prince after a long forced nap. The only reason she gets the prince is because she's pretty.
They should make Sleeping Beauty 2, where we all learn the joys of a stay at home mom.

Right?!

And speaking of that, Gaston shouldn’t have been liked by his village. Just one example out of like 14, but at the beginning of the movie in the little intro song, we hear someone say, “I need six eggs, / That’s too expensive!” Later, when Gaston is joining in on his ego song, he says, “When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs / Every morning to help me get large. / Now that I’m grown I eat five dozen eggs / ....” In other words, Gaston is f*cking up the economy of this town! He’s buying all the eggs and making the price of them go way up, so they can’t afford six eggs! And all through the movie you see chickens everywhere! So I guess that’s Gaston’s supply only??

Also thanks for the hug :)
