Colorful and hopefully optimistic but maybe hateful occasionally

Maybe they won’t??

It must be so weird to be one creature and then sort of another one

Fun fact tho: butterflies carry over memories from caterpillar-hood! We don’t know how well or anything, but they do remember what to avoid when scientists teach them that a nice smell might mean an electric shock

Dunno who’d wanna shock a baby butterfly but you know :P

Do you know any tricks for getting rid of fleas??

The idea is terrifying to me. I had to stop reading The Body Keeps The Score because of how he explained testing in dogs. Almost puked.

I'm a pro by this point.
But baking soda in water and scrub everything - they say vinegar is okay too, but I don't think that's accurate.
Vaccuum EVERYTHING - get rid of the vaccum bag immediately
Wash all beddings, they don't survive washing machines
Shower often :P

Alternative is deathomaceous earth - pretty cheap stuff and works wonders, but you'll feel genocidal. I murdered dozens of ants on my previous apartment with it, wouldn't do it if it wasn't an infestation - they were on the floors, walls and ceiling, terrifying stuff.

Cool! Is it safe for toddlers, then?

Ugh! Yeah, no. I wasn’t able to consider a job for the CDC (not that I qualified, though) because it involved infecting monkeys. Because of something that happened in China (wait, was it Russia? Don’t quote me), it’s no longer legal for us US people to release the friends because all the testing centers are in human populated areas :I I won’t get into that story, but I completely get what you mean

We need to get some stem cells to test instead of animals — although they don’t have nearly the same benefits.

On the flip side, in the US when the FDA was new and didn’t have any power yet, one drug company used a sweet tasting liquid in their antibiotics (in the days before penicillin, after that really awesome red dye was discovered), because their research groups found that people preferred liquid medications. People fed these to their relatives to cure them of bacterial diseases of all kinds — and 105 people died. The company had decided not to do animal testing, possibly to save money or time or mouse lives, but it turned out the sweet liquid was antifreeze and it also turned out that that stuff is worse for people than bacteria. That, and their instructions were also untested: “give them medicine until they’re better,” so the antifreeze would make them sick, and... FDA got them only because they called their product an “elixir,” which was a tiny technicality (an elixir was required to have alcohol at the time?) and the owner was distraught about what happened. Laws here on pharmaceuticals got way, way stricter after that and the FDA is way more powerful now

But yeah, long story short, it’s going to take us a long time to have a good method for things

My mom was part of a human trial of a drug, which was cool because it accidentally saved her life, when she had months to live. But sad because one of the side effects was nerve damage, and not being able to walk. But now she knows women (and some men) have a safer version of the drug that won’t rob them of the ability to go on hikes, so that’s cool beans

I love your fun facts, had no idea about the anti freeze thing.
I know there aren't other options, but there are better ways to do it.

Have you read "Are we smart enough to know how smart animals are?" I loved this book.

I SAW IT ON A SHELF, but I couldn’t afford it at the time!! I want it so much though, it seems like my kind of book!

Maybe I should borrow it from a library? :0

Totally agree

Perfectly safe ways for most things. Not all monkeys are being cured of Ebola in labs

I hate Ebola. I won’t tell you my fun facts about Ebola because you kind of need to see the face of your audience to know when to stop describing what it does

But the evolutionary background and why deforestation caused the outbreak, is all really cool!

But I’m glad someone likes my facts! Lol :)

Dear brain,

Do me a favor and don’t nightmare, I’m trying to sleep

Wherever that lil Israeli girl is, she’s got a chance to heal

So chill, it’s way past bed time and you woke up my sleepy doggo
