Oh. I’ve fallen apart a few times. I’m also in survival / crisis management mode where I can cope with things for a time. A place my brain knows well. :(

Thing is, there are so many hurting and being traumatized, and in the middle of the mask shortages we have to remember about treating mental health to before people really start flipping out and going off the deep end even more than they already are...

In a way, I’m lucky. I have a skill set, a toolbox, for this and a knowledge base to help me understand what’s going on for me and others around me.. Most people don’t. Most people can’t even figure out why they are sad or angry or stressed out or numb all the time.

Could reminders help you, JMH?

Of the kind of if yet able to text, their breathing still works out and will a while, very likely, as not able to breathe at all = things like texting not possible?

And that if someone collapses in a fully trained personnel, ready for it, equipped for it, with permissions for performing procedures facility...

It means they are taken care of at the moment...
And may well pull through, instead of die?

Focusing on the alive side of things.
The dead one can get maddening faster.

I don't know exactly. They are so far being vague about it, so maybe the politicians also hope it won't come to it. If there is food delivery, cool... but what if you can't even do that? He was saying 'people won't starve in 14 days, but it would save many lives(from the virus)' .... my thoughts are, better be ready food-wise too just in case so I don't have to panic-buy on sunday if it does happen. I am lucky, I don't really have allergies and not that many food intolerances so I could be fine. If it does happen I'd be more worried about my mental health tbh. We'll see in the weekend, I guess, I'll write an update if it does happen.
It would be a serious problem even in the UK as food delivery is a problem here now. I hope you have enough food to last you if they do it. Keep us updated.

What bothers me about all this, is that infected are getting reinfected, which means getting it and surviving it the first time, does not mean you won't get it again. No treatment and all.
Yes I have been following this as well. It's most concerning. Patient 4 comes back weeks later and is then patient 58. And though they keep saying they don't know there seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence.

In terms of secondary infections after shutdown China is doing an experiment in this in real time. It will be interesting to see what happens there, with secondary infections, if they are honest about it.

Does this mean that this will all just blow-up again the moment movement restrictions are lifted due to no treatment? I would say yes, especially if they reopen International borders. The majority of our cases are imported at this stage.

Even opening up local community activities in your local area has a high probability of further spread.

Australia is not testing widely so we don't have any data of whether there is community transmission. I was watching the World Health Organisation briefing this morning and the emphasis is on testing, testing, testing and he said I can't emphasise this enough.

In Vo, Italy they tested every single person and found many asymptomatic carriers, who they put in quarantine. Then they retested everyone again. With this regime of testing every single person they are now Covid19 free, last I read. Australia has absolutely no idea how many cases of Covid19 we have or even where the clusters are because we have had an appalling lack of testing kits.

Iceland is testing everyone.

Taiwan tests everyone on the plane in from Wuhan and all go into quarantine then they test their families and contacts. So Australia hasn't done this. Despite the Prime Minister saying things were being monitored at airports they haven't been. Friends turn up on Twitter saying they just walked through from an International hotspot, were able to walk right through, no suggestions of self isolation for two weeks, no temperatures, no testing like Taiwan however a couple of folks were given a handout from someone not wearing a mask or gloves. Which in of itself is madness.

I can't believe it has taken so long and how the public schools are still open. So until that occurs we aren't considered by WHO as having done the basics to manage Covid19. We are so behind the 8 ball. I never thought Morrison would not close the schools. That's a real shock and it's changed all the mathematical modeling. In countries with wide ranging testing. Cleaning specialists that do deep cleans rotating around the schools and all staff and students ahve masks and other PPEs the kids can go to school but we haven't even implemented our Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza (AHMPPI) Department of Health | Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza (AHMPPI) More than 113 countries have shut down their schools and universities and are talking about not returning for the rest of the year. This is a seriously concerning ball that has been dropped.

More data is coming out about kids.

I am wondering if the mask wearing at home by adults in China has an impact on transmission to children? My Chinese friends are aghast at people walking down the streets without masks and interacting with children without masks. They see it as deeply negligent. It will be interesting to find out if the culture of mask wearing by the whole family at home has prevented the spread of Covid19 at home.

Do you have things like rice, lentil, pasta, bulgur or alike, soups, canned vegetables, oatmeal, tea, what of fruits / sugars you can?
I have some of those, I started getting something here and there as all this started. So I guess if I couldn't buy anything tomorrow and used up my pantry, I can probably get buy for a week(maybe more but I've never tried cooking only pantry stuff fully, except when I was broke and didn't even have pantry to use up:P. I've been hungry before so no doubt I can do it, just I don't have to until I have to, you know? So I'm hoping to get some more of these mentioned things, make sure I have for 2 weeks for sure.

@Lumos definitely, will update for sure when there are developments.

Not sure many affected will take it up. It sounds great, but the caveats are beyond the scope for those already affected
I think you'd have to be a bit of an accounting whiz to make it work, because you'd need to be taking advantage of all the packages (private and govt) simultaneously. For example, things like waiving payroll tax came out in maybe the first or second round of stimulus packages? Then the banks came out with their own business loan temporary waivers and almost no-interest short term loans for struggling businesses, and commercial landlords are under pressure to negotiate options to reduce rents.

So, all of the benefits, subsidies and waivers combined - could potentially keep a lot of businesses at least in 'hibernation' (there's another round of packages due out to make that possible today or tomorrow I think).

But small businesses are run by humans, not robots with infinite capacity to understand and access all these things with the speed they need to.

Hopefully it will get some businesses through. We're trying out all these things for the first time, though, so they won't all work.

But if you have access to them you probs shouldn't wear them to the supermarket..

This is interesting. The culture of mask wearing is very well developed in some countries. I work with art processes that can be toxic. I actually have a good supply of masks. In early Feb I went out wearing a mask and gloves, to the supermarket and everyone stared at me, but I didn't care. Now more and more folks are doing it.

It will be interesting to find out if the reason that younger people didn't get Covid19 due to the culture of mask wearing.

@Justmehere just stopping by to give you kudos - because you are in such a scary situation and yet you are handling it with way more calmness and dignity than I think I could. I would be totally freaking out - especially if people with the same thing I had were dropping dead in front of me! And I'm a dispatcher!

Thank you for the updates as you beat this (and yes you will!) -- it gives me hope

My friends in Italy are on day 38 of quarantine. A hospital in my area has just put out a call for home made masks and has sent out a preferred pattern. My daughter and I are trying to consider our options on if we have enough materials readily available to make some. If anyone sews you can check with a local hospital and see if they are accepting.
