What bothers me about all this, is that infected are getting reinfected, which means getting it and surviving it the first time, does not mean you won't get it again. No treatment and all.
Yes I have been following this as well. It's most concerning. Patient 4 comes back weeks later and is then patient 58. And though they keep saying they don't know there seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence.
In terms of secondary infections after shutdown China is doing an experiment in this in real time. It will be interesting to see what happens there, with secondary infections, if they are honest about it.
Does this mean that this will all just blow-up again the moment movement restrictions are lifted due to no treatment? I would say yes, especially if they reopen International borders. The majority of our cases are imported at this stage.
Even opening up local community activities in your local area has a high probability of further spread.
Australia is not testing widely so we don't have any data of whether there is community transmission. I was watching the World Health Organisation briefing this morning and the emphasis is on testing, testing, testing and he said I can't emphasise this enough.
In Vo, Italy they tested every single person and found many asymptomatic carriers, who they put in quarantine. Then they retested everyone again. With this regime of testing every single person they are now Covid19 free, last I read. Australia has absolutely no idea how many cases of Covid19 we have or even where the clusters are because we have had an appalling lack of testing kits.
Iceland is testing everyone.
Taiwan tests everyone on the plane in from Wuhan and all go into quarantine then they test their families and contacts. So Australia hasn't done this. Despite the Prime Minister saying things were being monitored at airports they haven't been. Friends turn up on Twitter saying they just walked through from an International hotspot, were able to walk right through, no suggestions of self isolation for two weeks, no temperatures, no testing like Taiwan however a couple of folks were given a handout from someone not wearing a mask or gloves. Which in of itself is madness.
I can't believe it has taken so long and how the public schools are still open. So until that occurs we aren't considered by WHO as having done the basics to manage Covid19. We are so behind the 8 ball. I never thought Morrison would not close the schools. That's a real shock and it's changed all the mathematical modeling. In countries with wide ranging testing. Cleaning specialists that do deep cleans rotating around the schools and all staff and students ahve masks and other PPEs the kids can go to school but we haven't even implemented our Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza (AHMPPI)
Department of Health | Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza (AHMPPI) More than 113 countries have shut down their schools and universities and are talking about not returning for the rest of the year. This is a seriously concerning ball that has been dropped.
More data is coming out about kids.

I am wondering if the mask wearing at home by adults in China has an impact on transmission to children? My Chinese friends are aghast at people walking down the streets without masks and interacting with children without masks. They see it as deeply negligent. It will be interesting to find out if the culture of mask wearing by the whole family at home has prevented the spread of Covid19 at home.
