News Worldwide impact of the novel coronavirus (covid-19)

@Friday, yeah. I get you. “Ordinary” respiratory problems suddenly make even the simplest of matters now possibly life threatening. Argh.

I found myself talking pictures of my body today to send to my doc on a routine matter they were eager to keep under control because a trip to the ER is almost death sentence now. My cough means I’d be grouped with the infectious covid patients. Cue stress levels maxing out. I mean, I’ve survived in developing nations without any hospitals around but we had a plan and medical kits and tools. The way this is all playing out is so fast and furious and leaves everyone spinning. Including docs, maybe most of all.

I want to stand up and cheer whenever I read stories like Tesla making and giving away ventilators to hospitals for free:
Dead Link Removed

And I hope they get the testing really sped up so they can open things up more and keep covid patients and infected staff from spreading it somehow. Lots of cancer patients and others with chronic illness are fighting for our lives too.

The way this virus is taking down military, police, fire, etc.... ouch.

Even though he's high risk (age and heart stuff),

^Your dad needs to make enquiries cos the Federal health minister made it clear today that anyone who is in the high risk category should rethink their intentions to volunteer or come out of retirement. I think that's sensible because if your dad is high risk & he was infected well the outcome could be grim. He could take up valuable resources needed by the very patients he sought to serve.

Talk to him sideways & get ytube on the job & find that interview. He did it at about 1430hrs today.

Medical experts have determined that runners are a huge risk for spreading the virus as their sweat and laboured breathing when running past people is basically capable of infecting others, defeating the current distance rules.

I actually ordered a treadmill on day 2 of my quarantine for symptoms because people are streaming past my house like they are a parade.

@rightkindofme I have never been so glad that I spent money on a treadmill and rowing machine before. They may not have been used much in the past but at the moment they are the only thing keeping me (part) sane.

I have never wanted one in the past. For me getting over the hump of spending the $$$ was knowing that A) during this lock down people act like that means avoid everywhere but my street and B) in the winter walking (let alone running) means risking a fall because of all the ice and snow. I would like to get back to marathon distances and that means I can't only run 8 months out of the year.

Someone actually bumped into me on my street yesterday. He came from behind me so I didn't see him, and bumped me on the shoulder as he tried to get around me. I was so shocked I didn't know what to say or do. At least he said "Excuse me."

So some people just don't give a shit about social distancing.
