T has pointed me in the direction of the PITQ (both the patient and the therapist version) as a basic and accessible self assessment tool for working out where you are in treatment, and what progress might look like...

It's helpful as well as overwhelming (the higher the number the 'better' you are getting, I'm stubbornly in the low % for too damn many of the outcomes, apart from the first few where the measure is reversed!). Anymore that people know of that help track progress and celebrate tiny wins?

I found the Aussie DASS (depression, anxiety, & stress scale) INCREDIBLY useful.

It didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know (in the moment) but it reeeeeally let me track where I was over time. And THAT was something my head -in the moment- had a hard time conceptualizing.

The irony, for me, was that I was doing “well enough” to actually take the durn thing… when it was rating me as “extremely severe” (IE, I was “middling” by my own standards). The snapshot from an outside perspective? <low whistle> Just. Damn. Useful. As it let my track my trends, which let me better evaluate my own patterns.

I’ve been using PTSD Coach to track my symptoms for several years now. It’s very rewarding to see the line tracking more in the middle of the screen than the top of the screen!

celebrating those small victories remains a tough challenge for me. i want the nobel prize celebrations. i'll settle for being a rock star with a stadium full of people using the flashlight function of their pocket brains to shine their lights on my performance. celebrate the victory of not going off on an innocent by-stander? a whole day without a psychic meltdown? where's my stadium full of flashing pocket brains?

sigh. . .

when i can't celebrate those small victories, i do an inventory of my priorities and expectations.

Thank you these both look useful

Good grief yes 1000% yes. This is my effort of me trying to tolerate the idea that things are bad, rather than my current denial and ostrich impression. I can't argue with stats (well, I can, I do it very well, but 🤷 maybe I'll learn to argue less)

This made me smile!!
