Hi all. Hope the sun is shining for you today. I am a psychotherapist based in Melbourne, Australia. Doing a research project on how individuals become aware of the symptoms rather than the detail of the trauma. I'd like to ask you to take part in the on-line survey at recession watch.

But also, through this thread, could you please give me a feel for what treatments you have tried and what results you got? If you did get results were they short term or did they last? Did they change the way you perceive the symptoms in any way? Was the treatment / therapy done in combination with drugs or without? The more you can tell me the better. All information will be treated confidentially.

I have done a lot of work with PTSD and Combat Related Stress clients and I find the best results come from a combination of dealing with biochemical toxicity from long term elevated stress levels, and a rather unusual combination of clinical hypnotherapy / Time Line Therapy. I want the results of this research to develop a therapy specifically for high order anxiety disorders that can be taught effectively to more clinicians. So anything you can tell me will help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gary, and welcome. Please be careful with self promotion, otherwise I will have to remove you from this site IAW forum rules, we do not allow any type of advertising. I have changed the link in this study to live, though removed the one from your initial post within the Introduction forum.

All the best with the study... any improvements to PTSD can only be a good thing.

Hi Anthony, thanks for the heads up but it wasn't meant as self promotion. PTSD sufferers aften don't seek out useful help anyway. The research I am doing has opened a lot of doors to fast treatment methods over the years, so much so that we can now usually "turn off" those persistant thoughts and flashbacks quickly. It has only come through the research we have done via that website. The traditional methods have limited use for chronic PTSD. Happy to pull everything off here if you like but feedback from your members is very useful. Gary

Its ok now Gary... its purely this forum gets a lot of people self attempting to self promote, so when a new member comes on here and posts two post, with a link to the same site in both... it follows the same type of pattern, so we bring it quickly to the users attention.

Take care.

Hmmm. I just had a look at the first page of the survey.
I am afraid I am too scared to put in my personal details.
I cannot state when the event that caused my PTSD occured, as it was abuse over a number of years, as a child. I cannot say when symptoms began as I did not know they were symptoms until so many years later.

Completing this survey is harder than you might think.

I have not proceeded as it would seem the survey is not geared to my type of PTSD . I note you say you have done most of your work with combat related stress so I guess that is where most of your replies will come from, and perhaps others with single incident trauma.

I agree, that was much harder then I thought that it would be.

Me too! I was not sure what was meant by "the event" because the rapes, torture and other abuse happened over many years. But, I tried to complete it as best as possible because, I hope it will do some good. Please feel free yo contact me for more specific info and :Dthank you for your work!

Just filled out the questionnaire but didn't really feel it fitted with my experience of childhood abuse and adult abuse with different perpertrators. My diagnosis is Complex PTSD so maybe I shouldn't have tried filling it out at all.
