Not A Paid Job, But Still Job Success

Since being made redundant at the end of May, I have been looking not only for paid work but for opportunities to keep busy and keep my skill levels up.

Our local town council was looking to co-opt 2 councillors to replace 2 councillors who had left. I decided to apply for one of the seats. I firmly believed I could bring skills to the council to help the town continue to develop.

I wrote my letter and was asked to a meeting to talk to the councillors. There were 3 of us interested in the 2 vacant seats. I was so nervous, holding onto my little stone turtle, trying to keep the tremble out of my voice and remembering what to tell them.

I asked T yesterday, why do I put myself through this, maybe I'm just plain crazy. Anyway, I have just had a call from the Mayor and I did it. I am now Cllr. KP the Nut :roflmao::sick::speechless:. It will be a steep learning curve and I hope I can do it, feel slightly sick about the whole thing.
