You Know You Have PTSD When...

You can completly relate to the character Walt Kowalski from Gran Torino

You get annoyed about people whinging about silly little things.

....your food all tastes rotten.

....one of your protctor selves takes over, makes a problem-solving plan with your kids and teacher, and you had NO idea you were there!

...when people smile it you are you wonder why....then learn you have been friends for years!

UGH.

You know you have PTSD when...

You're in therapy and realize you are chewing your nails and say 'oops, I only do that when I go little,' and quickly try to hide it. Then my T says 'Ah, I hadn't noticed that one but I will look for it in the future!' Drat and Damn!! Now he knows!!! Aghhhhhh! We did laugh! I thought he was aware of it and he so wasn't!

You know you have PTSD when you try to read what has been written and go huh? Read it again and go what? Read it again still can't understand it. WTF?
Is this a PTSD thing, or is it normal? I try to tell my folks that I can't really read, and they just act like I'm being a drama queen and I'm overreacting and I think "Yeah maybe I am".

Anyway, you know you have PTSD when...

You find yourself excited upon seeing the heater you used during the early days of post traumatic and say to yourself "hello, old friend".
You think The King's Speech is a terrible movie because he isn't choking properly, all the time, every time.
Whenever the weather changes slightly or it becomes a different month, you begin to have flashbacks of pre-PTSD days and smile like a giddy schoolgirl.
All of your friends from high school admit that they were scared of you.
You reminisce about the good old days when you were constantly worried about dying because at least you still had the heart to fight the good fight.

OMG so relate to read and read again thing, my concentration is dreadful and my head is elsewhere to absorb anything.

You know you have PTSD when

The world around you seems like an alien place, should i be here, who am i, what am i doing here
When people talk to you and you have no recollection of a word thewy have said, i hate this ask and ask again and still don't know i do listen my head just blocks

it can be normal and is definitely a symptom of most anxiety disorders and learning difficulties such as dyslexia. With me however it is the PTSD. I never had any trouble before the PTSD.
Me too, but I'm constantly worried about the manifestation of any kind of confirmation bias. Maybe I did have trouble with something prior to the post traumatic, but I just don't remember it.

It's a goddamn mess. But I love this thread, I feel like the one thing we all share in common is our twisted sense of humor over how ridiculous things are these days.
