I don't understand how talking can help. i've been talking non stop to people about stuff and i don't seem to ever get better. in fact i think i got worse from the last person.

if someone asks me why i do a particular thing or dislike something i now don't have any answers to it. i started a new therapist on tuesday. my parents went with me to answer a few questions. i tried to answer some but my mind completely blanked out on me. :( i was just sitting there starring trying to think of something but couldn't. my mom answered for me and when she got the ball rolling it was easy. my dad is one of those "Let her talk" well gheeze dad if i could i would..
 
Sorry that you don't feel like you are getting any better from talking. Maybe everybody needs something different to get better. Perhaps for you it's a matter of time till you get better. I think sometimes we aren't ready to process things in our life. We have to wait for the right time.
 
Just talking is not going to help. For years I tolerated therapists who's only strategy was just to get me to talk, and it did absolutely nothing for me. It was just a waste of money. In order to improve you must find a T who will challenge you. You must find a T who will not just get you to talk about the problem but about your emotions and offer concrete solutions to your situation. You cannot just talk, you need to do. You need to do things to contend with the emotions that the experience left inside you and, I promise you, have yet to go away.

@ronin47: Could you send them to me as well? We are on the search right now for a therapist for my husband... and (spookily) we live in Stockton, CA....where PTSD specialists seem a bit thin on the ground from where we are sitting.
