Can Ptsd Cause Multiple Marriages????????

The guy that I had a brief relationship with had been married 4 times. We were together for about a week and he tells me he is afraid because of his past relationships and afraid he would screw this one up to

I did ask him why so many times and his answer was, he was looking for love. I mean isn't this kind of ignorant????

Would Ptsd cause someone to make the same mistake over and over?????

Many marriages fail because of PTSD Anna, many also succeed and survive.

It may be possible that he could not really cope with a relationship, but tried a number of times. So possibly not ignorant, just unfortunate. The stress of a relationship for some one with PTSD, can just be too much for them to cope with.

You could look at it from a few angles, being from a sufferers side and a supporters. Getting many different answers from both sides.

Sorry if I offended anyone with the word "ignorant". I guess I can't seem to understand getting married 4 times. I don't want to sound like I am judging, but I guess I don't understand going from the pan to the fire 4 times because your looking for love.

I realize everyone wants to be loved but taking your time and getting to know people that is goes a long ways.

By 30..I was married two times. I think it often causes relationship problems unless you have had therapy and are working to improve this and relationships in general.

Simply, because those with PTSD, depending on severity level, will not be emotionally available to others around them. Again, that level will depend on severity of symptoms present. This will apply to a majority of PTSD sufferers struggling to make themselves completely emotionally available.

It definately causes multiple marriages. I am on my 3rd marriage. I married my mentally ill, incompetent, abandoning father over and over. I guess trying to fix the relationship between me and him?! So, I have never really known love but dreamed about it for years. Now I just accept that I won't have a romantic love. However, I am learning to make friendships again with good people. I also have the most wonderful love possible which is my two sons.

We all kind of want a cinderella story, ya know? Then we wake up and find out it was always a fairy tale. However, I see there are people on here that have good relationships. So, even though it doesn't work for all of us...it does work for some!!
