The Teaser
Little Johnny's Great Granddads birthday is in the not to distant future, and little Johnny is trying to work out how that many candles are going to fit onto the cake he was watching his mum bake this morning.
So little Johnny finds his mum and asks, "how will all the candles fit, mum?" "Well," says little Johnny's mother,"your Great Granddad will be more than 7 times your age on his birthday." Little Johnny's Auntie Alba says,"Well, I know your Great Granddad is younger than Great Aunty Hellena." She pauses, then continues saying,"Great Aunty Hellena was born in 1924, February 17, if memory serves correct."
Little Johnny is all a bit confused now, so he rings Great Granddad and asks, "How old were you Great Granddad, when you were half the age you're going to be this birthday?" "Nice try." Great Granddad replied with a chuckle. He then goes onto say, "On my birthday Johnny, I will not be an even number in age, however; it will be divisible by 3." Little Johnny just shakes his head in confusion.
Little Johnny goes and finds Peter, who's little Johnny's second cousin. Repeating the same question, Peter says,"oh, your Great Granddad's very old Johnny, in fact, he will be more than 3 times as old as I am, and I’m twice your age Johnny, plus 6." Little Johnny is 11 years of age.
How old is Little Jonny's Granddad on this coming birthday? (Must show how you concluded your answer)
