I think it's also interesting to note that many people, including myself, find mentions of God and religion to be something that causes triggers, bad memories and stress.

At the same time, I am a die hard fool.

No matter how awful a human or circumstances are, or have been, I am still able to see the good parts of them, and given that I am someone given to creative expression, being in nature or pretty places helps.

Everytime I see something that is visually or audibly pleasing, I can't help thinking that it can't all be bad, and perhaps if I remove all the really bad parts that ruining 'god' and 'religion' for me, perhaps there is something there that I can have all to myself.

If I can have a scenario where it is only myself, God, and the pretty things and animals, then perhaps I can learn to overcome all of the other human crap which has muddied the waters and polluted the air.

We have someone who was indeed arrested for being a witch back in the 1600's, but I guess just had the gift, that's all. She just knew things, which apparently freaked out a house servant who tattled. The family paid a ton of money and goods in lieu of death by burning. There's been an odd kick in the gallop genetically ever since, funny, never connected the whole left-handed thing. I'm not sure what 'it' is, you can tell an awful lot about someone just by looking at them. I thought everyone was like that, that this was what life just was.

I think everyone is called to believe in their own way, that there's no right way, it's the same Light. My ritual, if you can call it that, involves the White Light surrounding people and situations, calling for help, healing, protection and guidance. I do use a smudge stick to clear out things when I feel it's cluttered or dense somewhere, and Holy water also.

I find that things that arouse our senses in a pleasurable manner; pleasant scents, soothing colors, favorite music, touching something warm and soft, etc. can help break up thought patterns, increase a sense of the present, and bottom line just make a person "feel" good. People should use whatever works for them and try different things even if they seem "unconventional".

Really, sometimes a hug and just talking to a good friend beats a few weeks of therapy. :)
