Medical Testing Becoming A Possible Reality

Hello Everyone,

I am feeling extremely :meh::shifty::smug::tup::joyful::unsure::arghh;:banghead::happy: why all these emotions a few that don't have emoticons? The simple answer I am finally taking action towards the possibility of confirming what are at this point only a suspicion.

Given my last few days at work I want to just leave and not return to my place of employment. Not a logical action. So, I am taking action. I am in the process of applying for Family Medical Leave to conduct the medical testing that I plan to use in fighting for Disability.

So far, I have an appointment set for myself in August. In checking my unofficial work schedule (online system) which matches the wall schedule (offical schedule) I am scheduled to work on 8/1/2015 and off 8/2/2015.

I don't know if what I am planning is going to completely work since I've never used FMLA before. I have a 72 hour test. Prior to this test I am planning to spend some time in our National Park. The usual length of time I have done previous is a single overnight stay. With this trip I may extend this stay before departing to the city where the testing will occur.

In the scheme of this trip, Ms Winnie will be staying in boarding. I haven't yet made those arrangements as I haven't done all my travel reservations (train and lodging in the Park and the destination city of Wasilla) at this point.

Overall I am looking at taking Aug 2-22. Whether this will be doable will depend on financial (which I need to discuss with my mom which has me :arghh;:shifty::sour::meh::()

This is important to me and I am hoping I can see this come together.

Update: I may have accomodations without doing a trip by train (which will be cheaper by air and direct flight to nearby city). I might be able to stay with and have my sister (rocky relationship) at her place since she's got a place in the nearby town.

My mom does think I didn't arrange all my ducks in a row. I might not be using the FMLA leave as that is unpaid leave, I do have available vacation as well as two personal days to consider also. The difficulty is going to be the cost of this testing. I might have an option if I push the date(s) out a bit further than I have.

I have started a process for which something my mom mentioned and I somewhat considered and am considering anyway as part of my disability claim which I need to re-file or see what I can do since I missed a deadline for an application I had thought I started. saved and didn't submit (only to discover it was submitted before I was ready for processing.

For clarification also, the actual testing is done in patient at the state brain center which is a bit of a travel from where I am in the state.

The other obstacle is I overlooked pre-certifying this with my insurance which I will try and address tomorrow.

I have my fingers crossed for you. You need this.
You need disability to come through for you. The park sounds like it would be wonderfully therapeutic.

Yup! I seem to try and do a park trip anytime I need to head South To Anchorage. Unfortunately I don't see a park visit happening during this trip as this entire trip is going to be very expensive. I am hoping that I can get Medicaid to pick up most if not all of this expense. I know our governor is/has extending(ed) medicaid coverage and there is a possibility of me qualifying. Whether this seizure disorder is or isn't epileptic will hopefully be determined by having this testing done.

However, I may need to move the date this appointment out even further because August time frame may not be correct.

The factor that pushed me to moving too fast on setting this in motion has been the past week! I won't say specifically what they are, these intrusive thoughts I have been experiencing have been getting quite ugly and I'm doing my very best to not even consider acting on them, despite knowing there would be extreme consequences which in ways would definitely qualify me for disability, but with that might come a criminal record too. (This I don't want, desire or have any need of or this would be counter productive!)

In time, decreasing my Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) in a nutshell, the work I perform despite the over bearing negative criticism I get from my direct boss (a micromanager among 3) along with the medical documentation hopefully will prove me eligible. Time will tell.

I will definitely attempt to keep this thread up to date.

Thanks to everyone for their input. :)
