News When 'free Speech' Includes How To Rape

I know that some claim that our individual selves are somehow social property...

but for the most part, I think most people are of the view that we are self owners, and don't give that self ownership up on crossing some line, whether its a line on a map or an actual threshold.

so in that respect, rape is always on private property.

Incidentally, in the rail head towns and the mining camps of the not so wild wild west, sure, young attached males drank, gambled and fought...
but families, wives and daughters were less at risk than they are in many areas now, and went about their lives and business un molested.

When you consider that now victims are often questioned about why they were there and what they were wearing......

which shouldnt have anything to do with why anyone was raped or threatened with rape. for females especially. We dress up to look desirable to current significant other, or attract a new one. Not to ring the dinner bell to predatory men who only have the intent to rape.

Idiots like this should be locked up. They are poison to any society. Makes you wonder if he would still have same belief if he met with a female Dirty Harry.... "you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" ;)

Free speech is fine as long as it's not promot...

Hurrah, I believe the same! Here in the USA there is a huge fight for freedom of speech with the implied (at any cost). People spew hateful rhetoric and fall back on the freedom of speech bit, and other people end up dead. I fully believe that hate begets hate. We can fight for our "rights" but I do think we have a moral obligation to draw a line at where ones right to free speech crosses the line into inciting violence.

but what should happen then?

I don't understand your question.

Do you mean a penalty for crossing the line?

Moral code can be separate than legal code, and in this case it almost has to be. Legal punishment wouldn't occur, but society can most definitely turn up its proverbial nose toward those who act in morally questionable ways.

But, laws can be passed against more extreme forms of inciting violence. It's sad that society really needs a bit of guidance in this area. I guess I'd hope that we could be a bit more self regulating.

I think we all know that the sticks and stones/words will never hurt me thing doesn't hold true. To me it feels very much like verbal abuse from afar. We don't tolerate one-on-one verbal abuse, but somehow it's ok when we attack a group of people from afar.

This is just my take on things. Maybe I'm a bit off, I don't know. I sometimes have a hard time wrapping my head around these hateful acts/words because they're so difficult for me to comprehend.
