You know I'd take Mayor Bloomberg or Chris Christie (who I like) over Trump. While Christie isn't a huge stretch at all for me for me, to say Bloomberg is significant! :yuck:

I dared to watch a small part of the shouting match also known as the last GOP debate.
I think Trump's closing statements captured why he is popular. He is not a politician, he takes action.
People are looking for government to be the solution, and it is failing our country In the US, we have put our trust in leaders who have failed us again and again, and instead of people taking more responsibility and using the checks and balances built into the system to bring it back to functional sanity, people have pushed for more power, more get-it-done leaders... but always for SOMEONE else get it done...
And now Trump's supporters are falling for him, they are supporting him to a reckless end, because he will ACT, and get it done for them.
In the debate, Trump was asked about Mexico's former president stating, "I declare: I'm not going to pay for that f*cking wall."
Trump responded in the debate by saying "the wall just got 10 feet higher."
I thought this was beyond childish and unhelpful rehortic. I learned nothing from either side of the issue. As a side note, I believe our country needs better border security but a wall doesn't make sense and is a shortsighted step --- but my point is not IF a wall should or should not be built.
The Secure Fence Act, passed and signed into law in 2006, already requires for a wall to be built. It's federal law.
Right or wrong, that law was passed. Our country is breaking it's own laws by not building a wall.
And here Trump is, getting into a verbal pissing match with the former president of one of our neighboring countries, over the non-existent wall.
There are some Americans who love what Trump is doing: declaring that HE will finally get the job done. This it is reflecting how pissed off so many Americans are at a government that is failing the people and has been so inept.
I do believe revolutionary change is coming.
There is a growing amount of anger. The number of jokes by a handful of politicians, claiming that people would overlook them murdering each other is astonishing. Lindsay Graham just joked the other day on national TV that Cruz could be killed on the senate floor, and no one would convict the senate members who murdered him.
That should never be a joke.
Many things that BOTH parties claim are matters that have fueled revolution in the past.
Obama is saying he is closing Gitmo... And opening a new Gitmo on US soil, where people will continue to be detained for a indefinite period of time with no trial. The destruction of such habeus corpus rights has fueled revolution before.
Trump and all the GOP candidates all want Apple to be forced to change software/make new software to get access to one phone (and 9 others...) Anyone who thinks the government will not abuse that in a hurry, is fooling themselves. And this kind of abuse of power has fueled revolution before.
I have little hope that Trump's popularity will die anytime soon. Kimye is a living testimony that narcissism sells. Endlessly.

Absolutely. People all around the world are stating to voice concerns with their leaders...
It isn't limited to the USA... many countries are all starting to wakeup and look for the honest voice, yet at the same time people want, but don't want to sacrifice for the longevity, or better future, of their country.
This issue has befallen half of Europe in the last few years. Countries going bankrupt, or just skirting bankrupty, trying to keep their heads above water... yet the people still want want want, without give give give.
Here in Australia we got a decent leader now... but he is dismissing the change he said we needed, because it will make him unpopular and likely to lose the election this year. So instead, they all skirt hard action in favour of current political numbers, otherwise parties want to change leaders as those in the party don't want to lose their jobs in their electorates.
Someone needs to start toughening the hell up, selling the realistic aspect of reform that all countries need, and force it upon people without the option to take take take without give give give, sacrifice a bit... for the future of a global economy.
We the people are just as bad as the greedy politician at times.
I can't believe my eyes and ears as I listen to politicians endorse Trump! And Trump not condemning the KKK?! I am so ashamed that these people, with these beliefs, could ever attain such a status in my country.
I don't believe Trump can win (and I feverantly pray not) though it is possible he may win the GOP (again, I am ashamed).
The GOP is very split, though, between people who back Trump, and people who despise him and are wiling to vote for ANYONE other than Trump, to protect our country from his dictatorship.

Maybe trump might just be the best thing for the USA... he certainly doesn't give a shit about all the politically correct nonsense, so maybe he may get the country back on track? Maybe honestly is what is needed? Maybe other countries may follow suite?

There are leaders with the capacity to say what needs to be said (not so PC) and make the hard choices that need to be made (like austerity measures)...
And then there are leaders who incite violence, promote already heated racial divisions, routinely state they will be a different leader when elected, have long histories of harassing women and defrauding the public, make fun of people with disabilities and the mentally ill, bribe political leaders, quote dictators because they find them "interesting," court the support of people who lynch others and burn crosses on residential lawns, and so on...
Trump is not the person to say the hard things and make the hard choices America needs. He says just enough to rile the masses and get support while tearing everyone apart. I hope no other countries pick personality cult fueled strongmen to lead in the name of change. That has never worked out well in recent history, has it?
But I do think you are right, that we need leaders (and are hungry for leaders) who don't care about being PC, who can rein in the many government abuses occurring in many countries - I worry that kind of leader is not electable and such change will eventually come via dictatorship style leadership, because the people, all of us, really don't want those hard choices to be made. We rather keep kicking the can down the road.
I do not believe the path of correction involves Trump or Trump-like leaders, but serious personal responsibility and some hardship for all US citizens - which isn't going to happen.
Trump will be inaugurated before that happens.
