Lack of real life experience can indeed breed ignorance and speaking out from a narrow viewpoint, believing things to be true based on only what you know.
However there are those out there who strive to be open minded. This group of people has no qualms about accepting truths beyond their limited range of experience.
I don't have a lot of firsthand experience with racism. Definitely not toward me, only around me, primarily through the racist/ignorant comments made by others. (Caucasian female, grew up in a very small/rural community with little diversity.) Like I said, very limited experience. Do I doubt the racism experienced by others? No. Why would I, why should I?
Annoying to know there are small minded sorts of people who don't believe in anything they can't see/experience/whatever for themselves. As if something isn't true without irrefutable proof.
Where was I going with this? Oh, right. The danger isn't in lack of experience with racism. The danger is in lack of experience coupled with a very closed mind.
Peace out, and above all, BREATHE!
