Well today I went to court for the sentencing of my sister's ex for a stalking charge among others.
He's been in jail for 6 months and thankfully they aren't included as time served. He's getting 12-24 months with possible eligibility of probation for 3 years. However, in the last 6 months he's racked up 16 offenses that he's gotten in trouble for, most of them attempts at self-mutilation.
The judge called him a narcissist and the worst kind. Also said he is sorry that he can't promise anything to my family that he won't ever xome back or even do this to someone else. Given his history with an indecent physical assault charge the judge felt that he is a threat but given the plea bargain, the max is 12-24 months and 3 years of probation.
Another thing I almost laughed at was when he tried to blame his misconducts on the medication he was being given. He stated that the nurse said he was prescribed synthetic heroin.... he does not have a drug problem. I almost laughed at his responses because it's the same stuff he pulled while living with us. Never taking responsibility for anything, always blaming it on something or someone else.
I was upset at first, but I'm feeling ok with the judge's decisions. It was evident that he wanted to give him more but had to abide by the plea bargain.
If/when he is eligible for probation, his father agreed to let him come stay with him. This coming from a guy who refused to let him live there before, didn't want anything to do with him, kicked him out, etc.... the scariest part is that they accepted that but the judge did bring up the fact that his dad doesn't have the greatest track record. His dad has been in and out of jail... drinks like a fish and smokes pot all the time. Just what a probation officer wants to see! Another thing is that his dad lives 15-20 minutes away from us. Until the end of his possible 3 year probation my family is protected with a no contact order. After that we have to file PFA's. I'm hoping this beings a little relief to all of my related stress and anxiety.
