Something good happened today! I got a call from an unknown number, almost didn't answer it, thinking it was the insane father of my son. But I took a risk and picked up ----- and it was my favorite uncle, who I hadn't seen or spoken to for 15 years. He said he was in my town, which was quite a shock, since I moved away to a town where none of my family lives. Anyway, he said he was picking up a friend for a canoe trip, and he stopped by. Very briefly, because I was working and he was heading out on his trip. But it was so nice! We caught up a bit, and chatted about raising our kids. He has a daughter and has spent a lot of time raising her singlehandedly, as the mother is frequently out of the country for months at a time. He seemed to understand my frustrations, and even asked about my son's father instead of avoiding the topic, and unlike other men, he didn't say, "Well you must've done something to make him act like that, right?"
It was such a nice reminder that I do have good family members. And I need to see them more often.
