A Turn Away From Dissociation: The Association Thread

I looked up "WRITE A PRISONER" online and got a bunch (like 100s of choices!) of prisoners I could write to. So I chose 8 or so and wrote to them. I am still in touch with 2 of them, the rest I either gave up on as hopeless or they stopped writing. Anyway, one of the ones I am writing to is a lifer, so I got the idea that it might be nice to play ASSOCIATION with him, like we play here. So we have been playing it with each letter. My last "word" was "Tower" and his was "Sears" and so now I will give him "Catalog" to play with. I think anything I can do to cheer him up or help break the monotony for him is good. He tells me that he so appreciates my letters. He has no family, no one has written him in years. I don't know who placed his name up there on that website for me to write to him, but writing to him has made my life better somehow. So, thanks to whoever started this thread, for the inspiration. He appreciates it a lot. I am guessing that there are no games for him to play in prison. He claims that they don't have airconditioning where he is either. I don't know what he is "in" for. I have not asked. I guess I would rather not know. He has not said. so I don't ask. He just tells me about his life "in" there. What it is like. And we play this game. His name is Harry.

My other prisoner is due to go to a halfway house in Florida (USA) in September if he is OKed for it. I am praying that he will be OKed for it. That is all I can do for him, other than to cheer him up by writing to him. He has family at least, so I am glad of that.
