Understand AI use at MyPTSD: all AI use is explained in our AI help page. AI use is by choice here. It exists if you want it, but does nothing unless you choose to use it.
I've colored since I was little, long before the fad. Getting harder with the arthritis, but I find the prisma colors and gel pens are easier to use than other brands. And has anyone picked up any of the adult Lisa Franks? They are fun x
I have several, one for each mood. There are a couple of general ones, a book devoted to tessellations for when my OCD is in high gear, a zen designs one, and one of Hebrew prayers. Very calming, even when my hand is cramping. I don't care that my color choices all seem to be the same, I love the artistic outlet coloring gives me. I use either very fine-tipped markers or colored pencils.
I have yet to try mine...it's with my paperwork on my desk that I am working on organizing. I do know, from what my therapist, and articles I've read have said, that coloring helps us use the creative side of our brains, and it can "rest" our intellectual mind. Not sure if I am describing that right...
I have NO artistic skills like drawing, or painting. Those genes went to other members of the family. My dad was an oil painter. With coloring books, the picture is already there. I think it will be an anxiety reducer...when I find it...LOL!
I got one to try out I think I might get more. I use it as distraction when the intrusive thoughts get too much. I listen to audio books while doing it if I find my thoughts wandering. It takes up all my concentration.
I don't own any, I draw on all sorts of things; notebooks, table cloths, people, buildings... But one of my favorite bloggers is publishing one & I'll undoubtedly buy that one. :roflmao: Mostly just because I like her art. Whether or not I'll ink it up is sort of debateble. The whole "Stay within the lines. The lines are our friends." thing has always been sort of like running with scissors for me.
@Friday I love reading her @Snowflake I have always had trouble staying in the lines. A lot of times, my hand will spasm and I jerk out lines all over the paper! If you use colored pencils, and are fussed about it, the lines erase pretty easily. We are our own worst critics x
I like to think of it as relaxing, and a way to focus my mind, and work my hand, rather than being critical of it as art (and sometimes I start one and get sick of it, put it away, and go back to it another time).
