Advice! Think Boyfriend Having Meltdown

I'll try to be succinct. My ex and I broke up a couple months ago. He has combat ptsd and a pretty abusive childhood history, our relationship took a bad turn and we separated.

He recently made contact with me again and asked to see me. I agreed because I was a bit concerned for him, all the bull shit of our breakup aside I still care for him as a human being.

When I saw him I didn't recognize him. He has lost probably 30lbs in two months. His eyes are dark and sunken in. He twitches and threw up multiple times in the few hours we were together and has what look like sores on his face. I told him he looks strung out. Heroin? Meth? Seems to fit that. He went from being the most gorgeous man to a shell.

My concern. What can I do to help him. He claims to not be on drugs. Something I have a hard time believing. Says he's been sick and stressed and not sleeping. Told me it feels like someone is constantly scaring (scarring sp?) him and his nerves are always tingling and burning. He is injured, of course, but I have a hard time believing it's not drugs. Because this is never something he acted like before. (He claims his boss is drug testing him, probably because he thinks the same as I)

Is there anything I can do to help him. Are these symptoms stress related? I've never heard or read of ptsd causing this. Does anyone know of veteran resources I could research. I'm nervous because he looks like he's about to die. Sorry if this sounds dramatic. But watching someone curled up in the fetal position on your bed and holding what used to be a tall, strong, gorgeous man, albeit with struggles, in your arms and feel them twitch and shake, feel their ribs through their jacket, see sores on their face, is heart wrenching. I would like to help or maybe I should stay away? His support group is non existent his couple friends left don't seem to care. If anyone has some advice or thoughts.

Thank you

It sounds like drugs to me.

Stress can do a lot to the body but I don't know if stress alone can do that much damage in just 2 months.

Is he willing to seek treatment?

That sounds like a pretty extreme physical change in just 2 months.

I've seen weight loss from stress, and looking pretty rough. I've seen some vomiting during panic attacks and shaking.. He has a tremor from nerve damage.

I haven't seen him fall out like you describe just from stress though. If he wasn't having a panic attack, I'd suspect drugs too.
