I started it in conjunction with my Lamictal and my Clonazepam and I finally was able to sleep without any hypnotic medications. It's also helped with daily anxiety levels.

I was wondering if anyone has had side effects increase at the higher dosage? My doctor is about to move me from 2mg to 4mg.

My dreams became more vivid and I was unable to wake from them. Since the whole reason I was taking it was to prevent nightmares it seemed kind of pointless to continue taking it. When I talked to my prescriber she said that she had not heard of that before and suggested a higher dosage. However, my other half used to go to go to groups at the V.A. and several of the Vets talked about having similar issues. I had already quit taking it by that time but at least I didn't feel like I was nuts lol.

I'm not a veteran ( thank you for your service). Nightmares have been a steady side effect but my therapist has been using them for exposure therapy. I'll take that into considerations before switching. thank you!

Ive been taking it for about 2 months. Dr just upped my dose to 4mg. I still have nightmares but it is getting a little better. My dreams are so vivid now sometimes when I wake up I feel like im still dreaming.

I had taken it briefly. It didn't help me much. The doctor threw some more pills at me after that. I can't remember the names of them all, but one particular drug I was given had a lawsuit out on it, because it made men grow female breasts. Good thing I didn't take that particular one long. Although, one benefit would have been I could have felt myself up on some of those lonely nights..

I've been taking prazosin for years now and they have been a godsend for me. I used to have very vivid horror filled nightmares that left my poor husband with several bruises. I currently take 5mg at night as I am going to bed. I don't have any side effects from that dose but when I was taking 7mg I would feel kind of hung over in the morning.

I've been on 4 mg Prazosin for several months. Sleeping better and no nightmares. I do have more frequent dreams but not sure if that's due to the med or the fact I'm getting better, deeper, sleep. I haven't had any side effects, either.

Candleflames, it's been a godspend here too. Since I was on Ambien for years, I was not ever getting actual sleep, when I do with the Prazosin. The only down side is that my nightmares have come on in full force. But my therapist says it's good for exposure therapy.

whispering: I am sorry it didn't work for you. Hopefully you've found something that works.

I took it briefly. Couldn't stay on though I would have liked to.

It gave me tachycardia (rapid heartbeat). Having your heart pounding in your ears like you just ran the 1000 yard dash, 24/7 is not pleasant. I was prescribed 5mg, but I never took more than 2.5 in a dose. Didn't dare. I just cut the pill In half every night.

I got that side effect from day 1, when I was prescribed 1mg. If it was going to do the same to you, you'd likely know it by now.

As for ambien... Bad bad shit. Lol never again. Almost burned down my house sleep cooking.

I was taking 10mg for just over a year. I still had nightmares, but I think the intensity was less. I just weaned off of it, and have started something else.
