Here are some I've done over the last 2 days. Now mind you I am NOT the best painter, but I am doing it as a form of journaling.
The Parakeet is something I just finished. My T asked me to draw and paint something that I think represents peace. Birds came to my mind. They can rise above the world and their "troubles". They also can live upon land, trees, air, and even water…they are free. It would be so peaceful to just fly away for a little while :)
The flower represents something my counselor did with me today. She was looking at some of my paintings so far and noticed that color is very important to me. She had me think of my favorite color, which is sky blue, and had me close my eyes. She helped me through a meditation about the color; accepting it, embracing it, accepting its healing and love, becoming it, etc. So in a way of symbolizing that, I painted this. The flower represents me. I think of flowers being resilient in that the storms don't defeat them easily, yet they are also fragile. If not nurtured, they will wilt. They also always turn to the sun (learned this is biology class). So this is me, turning toward my color, healing, peace, and love.
The image labeled Fight represents my struggle with dissociation. I always feel like I'm on this edge of a cliff. I'm weak and hurt, and so close to just falling.
Then the last one is kind of a funny way to express anxiety. I did it while there were tornado sirens going off and I was stuck in our hallway last night. It's just crazy, chaotic, and noisy… much like how I feel inside when I'm anxious.
Anyways, I wanted to share this, thank you for allowing me :) Sorry the parakeet is turned sideways!
