Art Therapy 2016

Damn Sludge, nice artwork!
Thanks!

Just this past monday I was elected to the Veterans Advocacy Council for the New Century Art Guild in Kimballton, IA. The guild and gallery's primary focus is on veteran artists and art therapy. We work close in hand with the NE/WIA VA and other veteran service agencies in Iowa and Nebraska. We also work with two Universities (and counting!) and a ton of other organizations.

As part of the guild and councill, I'm now cleared to teach classes and hold creative events for veterans and their families.

What is ironic is I used to serve under the current president of the guild. Thankfully he doesn't remember me and my long list of alcohol fueled shore leave brawls...

I started this thread as we are involved with two major national art shows/contests for veteran artists. Musicians, Visual Arts, Makers, etc.

The big one is the National VA art show. The "winners" get their work displayed in DC. The overall winner gets a full show in the White House.

I'm just excited as other than a few classes back in 2012, I haven't really done any art since the mid-nineties.

I start teaching classes soon, and have a residency coming up soon.

Show me what you got folks! I can hook you up with access to all sorts of venues and the possibility of winning cash and/or selling work!

Man... I keep starting to get back into drawing... And then IDK what even happens. Attention span of a gnat these days, I swear. Land of 10,000 projects. Not even accounting for mission creep! Sooooo not gonna attempt to account for all of the wait a sec, back the f*ck up, moments. Just the starting things. And restarting them. And restarting... again. ((Yea, yea, yeah, I know. ;) Little bit here, little bit there and traction slowly builds up. Grrrrr. Not patient, me.))

I'd be tempted as hell to smoke fire those burnished green ware orbs. Some really gorgeous work, Sludge.

Good work, Sludge. Kinda pisses me off. I had a MA scholarship lined up and ruined it. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

Believe it or note, those aren't green ware. They are just dirt and water! Air dry only, no firing possible.Check out some doradango videos on line. Serious zen R&R there.

You would have to get me really really stoned to slow my mind down to draw like that, nice art work Sludge and glad you got the patience. I do art work myself except it's done different, I get artistic destroying shit  Be playing Megadeath Symphony of Destruction while doing it and it's all so beautiful.

Just started my second semester art class. Finally I have something in life which makes me happy. Bunch of 20 year old students and me. What, I'm only 45 years older than they are.

Like your name....dinkydow. Haha. Boocoo dinkydow.

I took some classes and am planning on more. Don't let the age gap get to you, and I am sure you are not. It's something to immerse yourself in and is an expression of what you think you are at the time.
