that the religious fundamentalists will no longer have a place at the table within our new presidential administration.

While I do share your sentiments, I'm also genuinely curious how that's gonna play out. Biden is Catholic -- and pro-abortion (amongst other things readily deemed "un-Christian" by some; yes yes I know, technically he's not pro-abortion, he's pro-choice).

Among all the various Christians I've met or learned about while living in the US, the Catholics I personally know are among the kindest, nicest, and most progressive people i know. I realize this still isn't the case all over America and there are some pretty hard-chore conservative Catholics, but at least in my very biased and limited sample size, I was quite dumbstruck -- because to me it felt like American Catholics support everything Christianity originally promoted ... kindness, love, support, sociality .... you know. Nothing like those fundamentalist Evangelicals.

Where I come from, Catholics are the crazy ones ...

Many of the Catholics in the U.S. who promoted kindness and love went out the door when the child sex abuse scandals hit and the church did nothing about it. The ones who are left are OK with the extreme hierarchical structure of the system that led to all those priests f*cking little boys. Basically they're the same as Protestant fundamentalists.

Biden is also too much of a traditional politician to let his religious views interfere with his political views.

I just though about to create this thread because many of us has been manipulated with religion and spirituality, and our trauma is related with it. For instance, myself. I am a former member of an Eastern cult based on ascetism and surrender everything to god (mind, body and wealth) in order to sa ve my soul and «transcend» Coercitive techniques where used as food and sleep deprivation, social isolation, meditation, study and hypnosis, trance induction stages, as manipulation tools, between others.

I never have been a beliver, neither before the cult. After the experience, I have traces of paranoia and psychopathy.

Anyone relates? Any thoughts?

How do you leave now without gods to protect, guide and help you?
(This thread it does not have the intention of attacking any believer, just to drag the attention to the non believers)

I was brought up Lutheran I never believed in the fairytale. there is confirmation where you are supposed to drink wine as Jesus’ blood eat a wafer as his body. That’s barbaric even in symbolism. I think he was a nnice Jewish prophet and what they did with his name is oppressive. Would he really have approved? my sister says I’m going to hell for not accepting Jesus as my savior. ironic thing is after some exploration, dna tests my son says my father is completely Jewish. His parents came to the US during the war. I think religion causes more wars than good. Don’t you think the people who do the good would have done it anyway with or without religion? we’re just born good people then get corrupted? I’ve been discriminated for not believing and am used to it. My Father died practicing another faith lol it explains a lot of his behavior. I have cptsd and suffer from trust issues. I have changed my diet to vegan plant based I will never eat an animal again and feel at peace doing that. I buy sustainable products and do what I can to bring joy and love into the world. if there is an all powerful god he certainly isnt very nice letting so much pain and suffering happen in this world. Peace and love to you 💜🙏🏻

There is not god. This is my belief and my true, between another couple of things I know for sure in my life.
I went really nuts, inside and when I came back home...The Catholics were ALL outside their Church, talking loud and very close between. No more than 6 in a gathering and 2m distance. Covid. The law it's not for them. The streets are theirs (no way to walk through). I was about to scream them, but I didn't. I truly hate this people who think they are above others and above the law.

Hi!! Just want to tell you I was vegetarian for 12 years and, although it was nice feeling at the very beginning, it wasn't any good for my health. It sicked me completely. Regards.

I'm with you. I was born an atheist (everyone was) and I've just never been presented with convincing evidence to make me change my position.

Honestly, if there actually was a god, it would know exactly what evidence each of us would need to be convinced of its existence, and there would be no need for this thread. But, here we are. 🙃

I don't tell just anyone how strongly I feel about atheism, but I will share it with members of certain faiths because once you out yourself to them it's like wearing a target on your back that the reformer evangelist recruiter types simply can't resist drawing a bead on. Really, it's OK because I don't care at all what they think of me and drawing their fire might spare some other person that may not share my resolve and sadly fall victim. Maybe if I can waste their time and energy I am doing something for the cause. Kind of like registering republican so I can vote in their primaries and waste the money they spend keeping me on their mailing lists. I know what I believe but try to use the opposing views energy against themselves, because- this truly is war, has always been war and will continue to be war until education puts an end to it some fine day.

No one is born thinking that flying an airplane into a building or invading Poland or hating your Jewish/Catholic/Muslim/Hindu/Atheist neighbor for their beliefs is a good way to go. It takes religion to foster those kinds of thoughts in a mind. And a good education to innoculate against it.

wow that felt good. Moral, honest, tax paying and fellow man loving Atheist here. Thanks for the thread.
