Bad With Faces And Names

This is a frustrating part of dealing with my early trauma also. I do think it is from early trauma.

I will remember dog's names, but not people's I see every day. I will forget my favorite student's names, but remember ones' I feel nothing about. It makes no sense.

I can remember faces quite well in most cases, but when I like someone, I will forget what they look like daily and their name as well. What may appear as avoidant, may in fact be, but via not feeling instant recognition.

My first grader doesn't know her friends' names. She needs cues to remind her that that person is the same one she played with before and that they are friends. Since my traumas cluster between ages 4-5, I feel that part of my brain stopped developing certain pathways and related skills. Simple things glitch, but then I can do really complex things with ease and have a high IQ. The glitches involve not being able to access memory regarding a person's name or face in a simple, natural way, when that information ought to be readily available.

I'm not sure if someone is a chameleon or shape shifter, or if I am not recording their face right.

My father had this as well, and he is my main abuser and he has childhood trauma, as well as several other severe mental health and personality disorders.

Most people I know with childhood traumatic abuse exhibit what they refer to as "dyslexia" but lack the actual diagnosis because it is not truly dyslexia. Someday, the CPTSD experts will find out what it really is, but for now, they say "developmental trauma" and that's all we get out of them. They might speak of "attachment" disorders, such as "disorganized" attachment.

It's all nonsense to me because they haven't deduced what is wrong. And who's to say it's all in the brain. The body is all connected up with the mind and spirit.
