I think a sense of humour is required to get through things that you can't control. I couldn't be a good Paramedic without my sense of homour, and I'm sure those people with similar roles in life would agree. Without the laughs I would have 'burnt out' years ago. Sometimes you just have to have a laugh at the things you can't control, otherwise you'd go crazy (or crazier!). Just because I can laugh at things, doesn't mean that I don't have compassion for those affected. A sense of humour in times of adversity is just another of lifes 'coping skills'.
