LOL morgan you read my mind as I was looking at this LOL (how'd you know?? :P)

Yea I'm going to see what i can do:

I like the bringing pictures one and what i do, if I'm work since my dissocations seem to be hitting me to fast to prepare at the moment is I go into the bathroom (which is one room no other stalls) and I just take a moment to remind myself I'm safe, I'm ok, people know now the Truth of what's going on. and pray too if that helps...i also humm alot when I start dissocation so I can try to keep focused.

^_^ Thank you for this thread!

Something I find helpful to do, is to lie on your back in front of a wall; scootch your bum up as close to the wall as you can get, then swing your legs up onto the wall, kind of like being partially upside down. This is a very healthy excercise in changing your perspective. It aids with dissociation, as well as just general mental outlook.

I brought this thread back up for a couple of people (well anybody really) who are going through some tough symptoms right now. Theres a lot of good information here not just from me but from many others as well.

Hope this helps some one.

Morgan

many thanks morgan.....
...yes your breathing and grounding techniques thread was one of the first I read here. have been also doing mindful breathing as well...

I found somewhere on the web a thing for "tibetan singing bowls", they are used in Buddhist meditation. they are made from multiple layers of beaten metal and can just sound so beautiful. I find some of them absolutely help me to ground myself.

I dont have one but I sometimes go to you tube to listen to them. and an auction site where I can just listen to one bowl....I was surprised to see that they actually have the sounds on there, but it makes sense they would.

The lower tones help me to just centre, they feel almost as though they resonate through me...as though I not only hear the sound but I can feel it as well.

I cant much get into "tunes" being played on them....(not tunes but I didnt know how to phrase that).....I prefer just one deep bowl that I can just focus solely on.
Its a bit of a bummer really (but am cool about it)....because if I could listen to the higher ones they are cheaper to buy...I just find they "go right through the top of my head" if you know what I mean. Also if I didnt have a problem with the higher ones I would buy a cd with the sounds on.

The deeper ones are more expensive, but I feel like they go through the core of me. They really resonate ...just amazing

Thankyou morgan for your encouragement and for bringing this forward again.

I just found this from wikip.:
"The use of singing bowls in Tibet is the subject of much debate and many stories. Some people say they were used for meditation while others say they were magical tools for transformation of self and of matter" I hadn't heard this before but it sounds pretty cool....transformation of sound and matter.....~

Putting your legs up against the wall is also very good for people who don't exercise enough, or for people who walk a lot or for those suffering from spider/varicose veins. When you get good at putting your legs up, try putting a pleasant picture up on the wall. Split your legs and then focus on the picture--that can help too, because you're learning to concentrate while strengthening your legs.
