Congrats.

In relation to cure though... removing symptoms does not cure PTSD, as exposure to anything you find stressful again, even just time, can bring back all symptoms more severe again. This is the issue with PTSD... once you have it in your brain, its there forever as known by scientists right now.

I hope that changes in the future... and they find a way to get rid of it fully.

Once acquired, I don't believe ptsd can be cured, only managed. It causes a permanent change in parts of the brain structure.

I had somehow tucked away my memories and I had no symptoms for the past 30 years until last year and it all came back and hit me like a freight train, Coping is my only hope right now but I am a long way from that point.

As my therapist puts it, PTSD is something you learn to manage and live with, knowing eventually that you're safe. As there's no current cure, I've focused on therapy getting me to a better place in my life.

I reckon it's like a scar on the brain, it can close up, be 'healed' and not be fatal.... but the numb mass is always there.

I did put ' no' but I think that extended remission is as good as a cure. Using the typical cancer analogy, if you have cancer but it's in remission so long that you wind up dying of something else, I guess that your cancer was cured despite the underlying cellular predisposition. Problem is you never know, if or when you'll get struck again. I hold out faith for very long term remission. On the upside one my worst and most frightening symptoms really seems to be gone, save a few close calls...no flashbacks!

I don't believe there is a cure or that there ever will be. Cause you will never forget what happened that caused your ptsd. I feel that with the right help though it can be controlled and keeping yourself busy is one way I learned to help with mine. When I'm not doing that or am under a lot of stress mine will start to bother me again. Until I get things back in order and get my stress level down.

I was thinking the other day, would be I want to be alive (would it be worth it) if they could erase all my memories (that was the option). I would have none of the good memories, no recognition of any people, no memories at all of anything prior. 'Start new'.

I came to the answer after a bit, not super quickly, of no I would not want to lose my good memories just for the bad ones.
