Just dive in to art is my recommendation.
Art therapists charge about the same as psychotherapists and counsellors, so, you would have to have some financial aid if you wante dto see one...but there is no reason why you cannot just start painting, like I did, to express what is going on for you.
If you can afford some paints and paper, or canvas, then that's all you need...oh, and some brushes and space to paint!
I want to study to become an art therapist (I missed the enrolment for next year) and I have an art therapist, and she is really great at helping create a feeling that I can enter her studio and be a child again, without any self-consciousness or judgement. I always feel like I'm Alice in Wonderland when I go there...and I usually end up drawing just stick figures, even though I'm quite skilled. I think a good art therapist is someone who can help you to feel safe to be in touch with your inner child, and brings that asect of you out easily. That's how Iv'e come to define it anyway since working with her.
If you have someone who is willing to pay for you to go to an art therapist, then great...if not, just start painting. Art as therapy is really beneficial.
