Hi Everyone!! I have a question to pose to anyone whose PTSD is combat related. I am currently working on my Psychology degree and I am also a carer for an OIF Veteran who suffers from PTSD. I am currently writing a thesis paper on "Combat Related Mental Illnesses". The question that I am wanting to know is: How has PTSD affected your everyday life?? I was also wanting to know if I could use your answers in my thesis paper. They are all going to be strictly confidential!!!!!!!! No one's names will be used!!!

If you would be willing to answer this, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thank You...

I posted the same question in the carers section for carers. Except it is for the carers point of view. I posted it in both places so that I could get the sufferers response then in the carers section so I could get their response. And I would absolutely love your point of view if you are willing to share it with me.

Thank You :)

That's a pretty broad question you are asking. ;) Not sure if you have enough paper to fit all of our answers in your thesis. I don't think for any of us it is a simple answer or ever the same answer every day.

x2 I'd love to help and tell you anything you want to know but I wouldn't know where to start. you can PM me with some more specific questions if you want.

Hi, I am new here and have been diagnosed with C-PTSD (Gulf War I), but I would have to say PTSD is devastating my family, my work, and me. After 10+ years I finally found two professionals in the VA outside of the main facility who have started us down the road to "recovery" what ever that is. I can't see that far...neither can my sons.

For the first time since the war I have hope that there is a way out of this nightmare.

:hello: buff81jtac92!!

Thank You for your response  I am glad to hear that you have a sense of hope. Just know that you can't give up no matter what.

Ok.. So I realize that my opening question was a little broad. So I have broken it down a little simplier. If you want to answer the following questions & PM them to me rather than posting them for everyone to see that would be fine. Thank You!!

1. What branch of service were you in?

2. What rank were you?

3. How long did you serve?

4. Did you serve in Iraq?

5. What have you been diagnosed with?

6. Are you currently seeking any professional treatment? If so what kind?

7. Do you have survivor guilt?

8. How do you deal with the triggers, flashbacks, and nightmares?

9. Medications that have been helpful?

10. Medications that haven't been helpful?

And anything else that you want or are willing to share. Because I know that not everyone is willing or wants to share their story with a complete stranger whom they've never met before in their life. And again I really do thank anyone who takes the time to do this for me!!!
