I'm not convinced by a genetic inheritance of trauma, but do believe that there can be a multi generational pattern of ways of dealing with traumatic or stressful events that makes PTSD more likely. Having researched my family tree, in my own family I can see on one side the desire to deny, avoid and conceal, and on the other to lie, manipulate and shift blame. The patterns repeat through generations.
I can well believe that someone who comes from a family background where horrors have been too big to deal with would be less resilient when they encounter trauma at first tor second hand.
