I'm 3 weeks into 10mg of Prozac and it was okay, but it started to change and today I'm almost paralyzed with depression, self-harming thoughts, and lethargic beyond words. I feel so guilty for not being better by now, and so alone in keeping how I feel a secret. I know its bad, but I feel like a burden to my family, so I pretend.
My T's dad just died and she's getting married next week so I don't want to fill her head with my mess so I'm not calling her. There's nothing she can do anyway. Its all in my head, I know that. I need to talk to the Doc but I know she'll say its low dose, not long enough, etc and encourage me to stay the course. I've been on tons of different meds, lots of side effects, even made some up to get off them because I missed the crazies.
But I promised to give Prozac a try. I know that if I don't get on something, I'll eventually kill myself. I dont have a plan or anything, I just know that better men than me have made that decision, so I'm not leaving it to willpower.

10mg of Prozac is very low. Do not feel bad, it has only been three weeks. Unfortunately, these medications take time. The feeling you have won't last forever. I would reach out to your T, I'm sure she would rather hear from you then you do anything to harm yourself. I think your T would be devastated to find out you didn't contact her because you thought it would fill her head with mess. I hate being on meds myself, but they do help if you give them a chance. Don't give up on yourself. You matter!

Is this how you were feeling before starting the Prozac? If so, then it's an indicator that you've reached a steady state of the drug, but you need to up the dose. If you think it's worse than before the prozac, talk to your doc about discontinuing.

I'd encourage you to look into TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation). I'm doing a second course of it now, and what it is especially good at addressing is suicidal ideation, lethargy/fatigue, and depression. It's not particularly difficult or invasive, it's just a time commitment (generally 30 treatments, 5/week for 6 weeks). More and more insurance companies are covering it.

PM me if you want more info.

I just started Prozac 10 mg yesterday, so I really have no idea what to expect. I'll continue to watch your thread though and I hope you see some positive effects very quickly. Best wishes to you, Brenton
